Anybody know where he is now? He basically vanished after the world championships and got replaced by an 81 kg fighter. Anybody know the story why and if he is going to turn pro?
Anything new about Denis Poyatsika?
Hopefully he does not wind up like Romanchuk!

Did Romanchuk actually murder the guy? The news account only say that he shot someone in Vladivostok, they don't say if Romanchuk is facing murder charges.

The news have been quiet lately about the murder charges. The details of the event are unclear. The basic idea is that there was a confrontation in the morning with a guy called Meshkov. Meshkov shot at Romanchuk with a traumatic pistol, Romanchuk managed to knock Meshkov's pistol out of his hand and shot it point blank into the guys eye killing him. Romanchuk himself got badly injured during the confrontation, and as a result became an invalid for life.
But beyond the basics its unclear about the surrounding event. On one hand you have accounts about Romanchuk getting drunk for several consecutive nights and acting like a cunt. It may well be that he started the confrontation, Meshkov shot Romanchuk to avoid being KOed and ROmanchuk got injured but managed to shoot the guy.
On the other you have Romanchuk's support group saying that this is all rubbish. ROmanchuk wasn't drunk and could not have been during training camp, because the trainers would have smelt it during the early morning training, and Chakhiev would have hurt him pretty bad in sparring, that he never drank heavily etc. There argument was that Meshkov started on Romanchuk looking for a fight, and apparently point to the fact that he was a local thug, with family connections to the local mafia, and that therefore the trial is violates Romanchuk's human rights, he is the innocent victim acting in self defense, and the police and judiciary are crooked. Povetkin, Valuev and his former rival Alexeev as well as some national team members wrote a petition to Putin asking for his release. Lebziak, national coach, who had a falling out with Romanchuk before says its his own fault for being an undisciplined punk, and that apparently Romanchuk and Sergeev (the no2 superheavy) snuk out to party during the camp.
It's all unclear appart form the fact that there was a brawl. Apparently there is video footage of the incident somewhere but its been lost... as so many things in Russia, particularly trials, its just unclear what the real truth is.
