He for sure is the best known ring announcer out there.However,he doesnt speak any european local language,and very often the audience here in europe doesnt have a clue what he is talking about.Furthermore he isnt that famous among casual box fans here in europe.
I for my part prefer the czech ring announcers to Buffer.The Czech know how to announce the entrance of their boys:lots of emontions.
Buffer is too cool for my taste!

That's cool...looks like most people agree that Buffer is the man. He really adds so much excitement to a big fight. His voice, his hook, and his style of announcing is exciting. I like how he adds certain things when he's introducing fighters. I remember one time he was announcing a Roy Jones fight, and he mentioned that in 1988 he captured a silver medal, and said "deserving gold". That was pretty unique and cool to say. He'll also add things like "he's looking for victory and glory" and when he introduces fighters like De La Hoya and Mayweather who have won titles in so many divisions it's cool. I was doing an impression of him to a friend and for a joke I had De La Hoya winning titles in every division from Strawweight to Heavyweight. "The former Straweight, former super Straweight, Former Flyweight, former Super Flyweight..."

I'm a Brit and although I like Jimmy Lennon Jr too I have to concede that Buffer is the best. Somebody should slap his little brother though.

I'm not really sure how someone can be good or bad really, as all they're doing is reading from a card, but I definetly prefer Buffer.

Unlike others, he brings a true main event feel to a fight. Hearing "Leeeet's get ready to RUUUUUMMMMBBLLLEEEE!!!!!!!!!" is a megafight, you know? Big fights just wouldn't feel the same without him.

I hate big fights that dont have Buffer....Jimmy Lennon Jr just doesnt cut it. Plus, Buffer doesnt repeat the last names of fighters...I know its traditional, but its annoying. Everyone knows who the main event fighters are.

yeah he's the best. everyone makes mistakes, buffer should not be condemned for that.

seriously you know it's a super fight when he does em'. (well maybe not allll the time but you get what i mean).

the adrendaline really starts flowin' when he's doing the whole announcement thing while the big stars are staring across the ring at each other... then the "let's get ready toooo ruuuummbbblleeeeee!!!!" just sends everyone fucken bonkers. really sets the mood.

and i guess it's part of the human mental thing of familiarity. you just know what to expect when you tune in. it's like some midget taking over larry merchant's role at the last minute in the big fight. it would be disappointing... err well maybe midget is kinda true about merchant but seriously who hates marchant and his smug cheeky questions?

I dont think that Lennon jr repeats the fighter's last name either, but his father surely did. They all stopped doing that in the late '80s or early 90's, I'm not really sure. Don't know why it took so long for ring announcers to realize how stupid it was to say a fighter's last name twice.

"total pants"...I love British expressions/colloquials!! I remember when Calzaghe was fighting Lacey and after a couple of rounds he came back to his corner and said "he's shit...he can't hit fuck all!!" For some reason, with the accent it's even funnier.
