Ok boys lets name them
After reading plenty of threads regarding this weekends big events I noticed people still think guys such as Cintron are all hype or just plain exposed. Now I do think that Cintron is probably the weakest of the current champs, but that does not take away from the fact that he is probably the hardest pure puncher of the bunch that combined with the work Manny has been putting him makes him one of those "Big Risk Low Reward" type of guys. Obviously anyone who beats him will looked upon as beating up on Margo scraps but I think Cintron might shake up this division.
This list can include belt holders.....
Well who are the those darkhorses
My List:
Cintron
Rocky Juarez
Mayorga
Clottey
Monte Barret
Guerillmo Jones
Andrew Golata
Shannon Briggs
Zahir Raheem
Humberto Sosa

Kendal Holt
Ricardo Torres
Edison Miranda
Nate "Galaxy Warror"

Good list except for these two. They are both champs now and wouldn't be low reward IMO.

Mayorga
Monte Barret I don't think these guys are big risks anymore esp Barret for the fact that Cliff Couser destroyed him in 2 rounds.
And Mayorga is more of a low risk high reward fighter nowadays.

What are Monte Barrett and Ricardo Mayorga doing on that list?? :huh
Mayorga, who wasn't that good to begin with, is now little more than a punching bag for aging ATGs, and where the hell is the risk in Barrett now? A couple of years ago maybe, but what's he done lately to equal his performances against Mesi, Gunn and Beck?

The Ultimate: Kirk Johnson.

Rocky Juarez - Agree - If he can pick up his pace he could be dangerous.
Ricardo Mayorga - Disagree - I think he is pretty much done at this point, the conqueror of Forrest isn't going to be doing much conquering to any of the current big names. Especially after the whippings both Tito and Hoya put on him. Then again, he is in the Light Middle division..which is short on supply of big time fighters.
Monte Barrett - Disagree - Doesn't have the punch to scare anyone off, and when a protected fighter like Valuev picks him to fight against, you know there must be a reason.
Andrew Golota - Agree - There is always the chance he might make you a woman, or otherwise injure you severely.:!:
Shannon Briggs - Disagree - He is a risk for the first round, that is about it. In the press conference stage he performs well, but when it comes to performance in the ring, he has nothing. It would be an easy "name" win for anyone at this point.
Antonio Margorito - Agree - This guy is in a bad spot right now, if he thinks people were ducking him before..now that he doesn't have a belt he might as well be blacklisted. Williams might give him a rematch though, or he might move on to bigger better things.

Clottey really fits to this category.

I think there's a difference between BR/LR and Most Avoided. Casamayor is among the most avoided, I agree, but beating him at least gives one credibility for marketing purposes going forward.
1) I think Margarito now soars to the top of this list. He is a serious fighter coming off a loss.
2) Carlos Quintana belongs on here, too, because his style could be confusing for a lot of fighters. Cotto made him look much worse than he truly is.
3) Among the HWs, I'd vote for Chris Byrd and Calvin Brock. Two skilled guys who don't bring much excitement, but both have the potential to be a pain in the ass for a mean slugger.
4) Adrian Diaconu at 175. He might be overhyped on this forum, but elsewhere no one knows anything about him.

You know, Lampley, on second thought, I have to agree with that. He's high risk, but the reward is there. Good point. :good

I agree with the highlighted names... the reason I dont agree with some is that, I think there is a moderate reward for beating certain guys and for others, they're not much of a risk anymore...
Allan Green is probably the highest rated American Super Middleweight...

Mosley - Who would want to fight Collazo. It was a big risk little reward.
Winky - His fight with Hopkins. He wins, Bernard is an old man. Loses then people will say he was exposed.

Vantage I'm part Cuban so I was thinking about adding Casa on to the list but he's had a great run and anyone who beats him is going to have rewards coming to him anyway you look at it, though his tough, rugged, slick style will cause issues for any fighter in his weight class. The man's aging though and no one really knows exactly how old he really is....F*cking Castro

Was Margarito, now Clottey. HBO wont even mention his name. The older Marquez brother is also generally avoided.

Junior Witter - no one wants to face him
Good name to put on the list. Junior Witter is only known within certain circles and hardcore fans, if a guy like Vivian Harris or Paulie where to lose to him they would be looked down upon. If they won....so what who the hell is Junior Witter anyway?? good choice.

Augustus a few years ago maybe. I don't think he's that big a risk anymore for good fighter who knows what he is doing.

Until recently, I'd have said McCall.
Tony Tubbs can still be a notable obstacle for the up-and-comers...
