View Full Version : Fragomeni vs Kraj for Haye's vacant title

Czech olympic silver medalist Rudolf Kraj will square off against Italian brawler Giocobe Fragomeni for the WBC's vacant cruiser weight title.
Kraj beat American Matt Godfrey in an eliminator in his last outing to a ring.
I guess it is fair to say that the Italian will be the underdog in this upcomming fight.
Your opinion????

I am actually a huge fan of Fragomeni. He has a very nice style of boxing technically. Unfortunatly, he is a short, come-forward fighter with not enough power. That is the main limit on his career, because if he was a banger Haye would have had a much tougher fight against him.

I think his is the underdog agains Kraj, but I'm going to pick Fragomeni to win!

This looks a good fight. I am really excited about the prospect Kraj and he definetly seems ready to make the push to a title and in Fragomeni he gets a ggod old opperator to go up against. I can see Kraj winning this and maybe pulling off a late stoppage if Fragomeni's last performance is anything to go by.

How do you think the fight will go Odo and who is in line to fight the winner?

Tough question,dwilson!

Fragomeni didnt impress me much in one of his last fights against El Hadak. Kraj looked better against the same opponent IMO.
Not really sure but Fragomeni seems to be tailor made for Kraj. The Czech is a very lazy fighter inside the ring who doesnt really go for the kill or hunts down an overmatched opponent. At times he fights as lethargically as if he has taken a handful of sleeping pills. However,Kraj looks quite good against an opponent who comes at him and tries to duke it out.The Czech is a capable counterboxer who has pop in his fists.
Arslan vs Kraj would be a great fight by the way.
I will bet my money on Kraj by either a stoppage victory or a wide point decision.Fragomeni seems to be out of his shoes against the Czech.Well, hopefully he wont prove me wrong and outpoint the inactive Czech over 12 rounds!!!!

I see it being an ok fight but do not expect Kraj to over impress. He will win and probably comfortably. Great to see Kraj making a step up and getting near a title. Frag comes in as a decent opponent but his age will be a factor.

Nah! Neither Kraj nor Fragomeni play in Haye's league! You are also right in saying that there are better fighter out there at cruiser weight than Kraj and Fragomeni.

Anyway! Kraj won an eliminator against Gofrey. Therefore he rightfully gets a shot at the title, but why on earth is the limited Italian his opponent. What has he done to justify his nomination as Kraj's opponent?

Does Fragomeni really deserve a title shot? He hasn't done much since the loss to Haye, save a win over average Rossitto.

Kraj will win, then we see him vs WLodarczyk

thats boxing; it is not always the "correct" boxer who deserves a titleshot. promoters do manage those matchups. its all about money.

id rather see firat arslan fight for the title,he has worked so hard for his succeess and deserves it.

Arslan has his own castle where he is the king of the wba title.

By the way Kraj and his style reminds me a little bit of Brudov and his style.
Kraj vs Arslan would probably be great fun to watch.

The winner of Kraj vs Fragomeni must fight in first defense with former IBF champ Krzysztof Wlodarczyk ([Only registered and activated users can see links] ([Only registered and activated users can see links]))

I haven't seen Kraj. Brudov struck me as a fair boxer, good technician, but not a lot of power. Is this what you mean in the comparison?

Brudov/Arslan was a good fight.

Kraj was solid in the Godfrey fight. I thought it could have gone either way (scored for Godfrey by a point), but Kraj's straight right proved to be the decisive factor in the scoring.

I'd love to see Kraj in there with someone like Brudov, Arslan, or Wlodarczyk.

Kraj don't like body shots - I remember him from polish league. He was TKO by body shots two times i think. Of course it was somethink like 9 years ago but still I believe that Fragomeni or Włodarczy can KO him like that.

Fragomeni won't KO Kraj - I would have given Rossitto the chance to do it, but Fragomeni will be beaten on points - given that Kraj don't start as negative as he use to do.

Arslan vs Brudov was a very exciting fight indeed, emanuel!
By the way I for my part had Brudov ahead on points after 12 bloody close rounds.
Yep! Kraj is a good technician with a good defence, but he isnt known to be a puncher.Well,he for sure is no feather fisted fighter either.
Brudov takes more risks in a fight than Kraj ,but there are some similarities between them.
Arslan would probably beat his stable mate Kraj, too.
The Czech olympian silver medalist tends to be too lethargic and passive at times.Arslan has an excellent chin, and to be passive against Arslan is suicide.

I thought Arslan won that one. Brudov boxed effectively the first four or five rounds, but then Arslan's pressure took over.

If Kraj does languish, then he loses to Arslan, who is relentless with his forward motion.

I had Brudov beating Arslan as well.

I still have no idea how Virgil Hill managed to clearly decision Brudov, at 40 years of age.

Fragomeni has won.

Hometown hero Giacobbe Fragomeni (26-1) won the vacant WBC cruiserweight title via eight round technical decision on Friday night at the famed Palalido in Milan, Italy. The bout was halted in the eighth due to a cut suffered by the 39-year-old Fragomeni in round seven from an unintentional headbutt. Fragmoeni (26-1) was up 77-74 on all cards against the previously unbeaten Rudy Kraj (14-1) at the time of the stoppage
