This is better. I do rank Tony Thompson in the Top10 after his wins over Guinn, Timor and Krasniqi. He has done more than Rahman, Ruiz, Skelton, etc. Thompson is the new #10 HW. Those are good rankings, btw.

Thompson made more sense than Arreola BEFORE he beat Krasquitti.

Thompson is a pretty decent hw. In the same mold as TOS and to a lesser degree, Brock, w/less power. His chin is still a question. He looked pretty hapless against Timor Ibrag which soured me on him. Orthodox boxer w/pretty slow hands and good defense. I do think he could give all the belt holders fits sans Wlad, assuming he has a decent chin. Wlad would ruin him due to his orthodox style.

I think the bottom half of the Ring's rankings are flawed. Mine would be

5. Sultan
6. Brock
7. Valuev
8. Byrd
9. Thompson
10. Povetkin

Just outside
Virchis, Sergei, Brewster

Maybe the read some comments on ESB and revised the rankings as Thompson is the much more deserving than Arreola.

I like Arreola but he has no business in the top10.

I'm sure the comments by real journalists in MaxBoxing, USA Today, ESPN, etc. carried much more weight there...

I had him marked as a Tye Fields type, happy being a big fish in a small pond...but I admit he has stepped it up over his last 3 fights.

To be brutally honest, in terms of recent achievement, he probably does deserve to scrape into a top 10 at the moment. I can easily think of more than 10 better fighters, but several of them have just suffered a loss or two.

Damn right!

My top ten:
1) W. Klitschko (light yeahs ahead of the pack)
.......................
.......................
.......................
2) S. Peter (went 12 rounds with the #1 guy - who else has?)
3) R. Chagaev (will become #2 if he beats Ibragimov)
4) O. Maskaev (falls out of the top ten once he loses to Peter)
5) S. Ibragimov (may surprise us against Ruslan but I doubt it)
6) N. Valuev (still a tough tree to chop)
7) C. Brock (probably the best American right now)
8 S. Liakhovich (I'd like to see him fight Thompson or Brock SOON)
9) L. Brewster (I's like to see him fight Valuev or maybe a Rahman type)
10)T. Thompson (let's see him fight another top-young guy!)

Brewster looks finished. If he wants to keep fighting, he should take one year of gradual increase in comp. before stepping up again.

As has been said, Thompson was more top ten worthy than Arreola, even before he beat Krasniqi.

Arreola should not have been in there, at all.

But don't look for Thompson to stay in the top ten very long.

After his heartless, "thanks for showing up" performance against Wlad, Brewster has to be written off from each and every world HW ranking. Not even top 15 in my opinion.
