This guy fought everybody available from the best to the worst. There have been a good few fighters like that with incredible records who history has completely forgotten. This guy is lucky that so much of his record survives.

Boxrec is probably the most amazing record of boxing anywhere in the world.
Its not the top fighters records that impress me,it's the obscure journeymen and bums records that go all the way back to the 1800's that amazes me the most.
The fact that someone would take the time to compile such a record into one source for all to see is incredible.
Whoever works at Boxrec has my gratitude.

Is that Wickwar guy still alive? It doesn't say anything about his date of death!

Lamar Clark fought six times in one day 1958.

This record shows that Len Wickwar fought 461 times from 1928 to 1940.

(It's just the last four fights are post-war 1946, 1947)

461 times in 12 years AND HE NEVER WENT OUTSIDE OF THE BRITISH ISLES TO FIGHT.

I think this gives some idea of how much boxing there actually was in the pre-WW2 period.

Incredible.

You forgot to mention the guy he fought 3 time in one night, i guess this is what people talk about when they say boxing has such a deep history.

It's even more impressive if you consider that almost all of his opponent's records are almost certain vastly incomplete, and there are very few rematches on his record.

And most of his fights went the distance, meaning there were few easy nights for him.

Oh yeah. Well check this one out. It's scary from another angle.

This guy fought on a lot of cards in the area I'm from, that's the only reason I know who he was.

Peter Buckley is a man for all seasons, a trail horse for young hopefuls, a card filler, (unless some fights not recorded lhe has had 286 fights, and won 31 of them, in his last 75 fights he boasts (if that the right word ) 1 win 1 draw and 73 losses, although fraitas turned the trick, Peter is rarely stopped, which is in no small part due to the level of matchmaking, but Peter does know his way around the ring and always gives an honest effort,

Eric Crumble WOW 0-32 with almost all of them 1st round KOs...32 fights and probably a total of 45 minutes of ring time.

He even managed to get KOd by Donnie Penelton ([Only registered and activated users can see links]), who was 8-95 at the time, and now sits at a glorious 13-164-5.

That must've been one memorable night of ring action in Cedar Rapids

Slapsie Maxie deserves a mention on this thread

300 bouts, over 200 wins, yet less than 20 stoppages, and this is merely his proven record; he fought many, many more fights IMO.

[Only registered and activated users can see links]

And of course the Human Windmill deserves kudos as well.

300 (recorded) bouts in 13 years and all this is with the use of only one eye...

Not all of that is correct, some of it is tainted by alphabet crap, others by promoters spin.

1: Benitez was the second youngest holder of alphabet crap (I beat him by three years, when I claimed the SHBF Heavyweight title on my 14th Birthday. The Youngerst 'World Champion' was probably Willie Pep.

2: The Ol' Mongoose may have a problem with his protege there...

Foreman was merely the oldest to win a World Championship

3: Myth tainted by alphabet crap; Patterson was the youngest HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLD when he beat Moore; Tyson was nearly two months older when he won the Championship from Spinks.

6: Abe Attell may disagree; honest Abe had a claim on the Feathwerweight Championship of the world from 1903 to 1915...

7: The Azteca was impressive and it may of been the largest paying crowd to watch a fight (although White City in London had bills that compared in numbers to the Azteca). But I believe a free show during World War II in Philadelphia attracted a crowd of 200,000

8: With his percentage as a promotor, de la Hoya probably topped that number in the Mayweather fight.

It makes most of todays fighters seem like part time pussies..

Mike Tyson was one of the last fast moving pro's He turned pro and boxed vigourously until he obtained a championship.. Then quickly unified..

It amazes me when i see fighters making 2 fights a year a standard..

Get a grip .. Its just greedy bastatrds getting paid too well....

look on the boxrec they have this list...so it seems everyone of them is wrong

but anyways benitez is the younest titlist(got round that)
and the george foreman thing was his proven age and a champion aginast lineal threat

and the chavez-haugen was the biggest sold crowd in boxing history thre is rumor that there was a WW1 memorial boxing card in philidelphia that seated over 50,000 (i totally disbelieve it but it's a rumor)
