Guys I have not yet watched the first fight I know I can do that on you tube and will do so eventually, so little time at the moment.
What did you guys make of the first fight and who do you fancy in the second fight.
Give me your insights -
Thanks

Griffin was the aggressor, pressuring Sturm a lot. Sturm fought out of his style and elected to trade with Griffin, resulting in an exciting fight. It wasn't till the late rounds that Sturm reverted to his old style, but by then it was too late to make up for his decision early on to trade.
I think that Sturm will get the decision this time. Griffin got lucky, escaping with a draw in Germany.

Good post!
Sturm vs Griffin was a close fight which could have gone either way. Therefore their draw was the best possible outcome of their fight.
Griffin was the more active fighter whereas Sturm was the one who connected with the more telling and precisive punches.
I will bet my money on Sturm this time. Sturm would have won his first encounter with Griffin if he hadnt been that damn cautious and inactive within the first few rounds.

if and when sturm fights smart and doesnt try to please the fans by exchanging wit his opponent is capable of beating any of the top mw's IMO... and yes im one of the very few who believe sturm could possibly box circles and win either a spilt or majority decision over pavlik!

Sturm was very lucky to get the draw in the first fight. He probably underestimated Griffin, and fought Griffins fight - mostly infight. Really, Sturm was near getting dominated for some rounds.
Still, I think that Sturm will win the rematch. Because he is smart and will not make the same mistakes again. He knows what to expect from Griffin now, and he will adapt his gameplan to that. This time he will do what he does best, which is run, jab and clinch, not take any risks and get a close points decision. Just like he did in the Castillejo rematch..
