He should fight with some decent enough heavy to get him a better test.

Now, I don't know much about him sides a few youtube tapes here and there, but by the looks of things I think he should step it up a little and face somone decent like Rahman or somthing. He looks like a verry promisign heavyweight.

Boystov looks really good. Your thoughts?

Boytsov does look really good, and I have high hopes for him. He's young, so he should be moved carefully for a couple of years.

I'd like to see him fight frequently, and face some decent journeymen for his next four or five fights. Rahman is supposed to fight Toney, but journeymen/former fringe contenders like Williamson, Bonin, Marrone, Mollo, Barrett, or Whitaker would be okay for 2008.

Among those ranked, I'd like to see him fight Donnell Holmes, Carl Davis Drumond, Kevin Johnson, or JD Chapman.

Boytsov is good and has loads of potential. However, his biggest victory is over a 38 year old Robert Hawkins, who regardless of age is still somewhat of a live body, I dont think that deserves an 11th ranking.

Although with how bare the heavyweight division truley is maybe he is rightfully ranked at 11th. I would like to see him fight some solid fighters and see what he can do. He is definatly has an exciting style and has time on his side being only 22 years old.

With his age I dont think he is really worried about rushing into a title shot. He'll probably stay at the same pace of the rest of the year and then will probably start taking bigger steps with every fight. Coming into this year he is fighting an average of almost 5 fights a year and has 2 already this current year.

Good post.

A fight with Mollo or Bonin would be great for him. Mollo would be harder tho imo. But that would be nice to see. This kid is still young but he needs to up it a lil. Ima try to watch more of him, being i only recently discovered him.

Boytsov showed a lacklustre performance against Hawkins.Nevertheless, that was still enough to win that fight.
Boytsov proved that he can beat a durable subgatekeeper like Hawkins(who went the full route with Sam Peter and David Tua as well),but he didnt make a lot of noise by doing so.
Ondrej Pala made the water quite hot for Boytsov in their encounter a couple of months ago. A pity that theif fight was stopped due to a cut.
No doubt that Boystov has looked great knocking out one bum and no-hoper after another, but he hasnt set the world on fire yet.
The young fellow from Russia is a great talent with genuine firepower, but he hasnt been really tested so far.Lets wait and see how he fares against a fighter who enters the ring in order to win the fight.
A rematch with Pala would be great IMO!

He is really young and inexperienced yet.

I think he should be fighting guys like Rossy or Minto next, then go for a seasoned vet like Vidoz, to see if he is really ready for the big fights.

ur thinking of Denis Bakhtov

anid i have a question about that... How could Corrie knock him down 3 times in 6 round fight and still lose a UD??

Cory Sanders(not Corrie Sanders) is an extremely huge behemoth who is easy to hit.A target you cant miss when sharing the ring with him.Bakhtov simply outboxed him and won most of the rounds.
Nevertheless,he found himself lying in the ring dust quite a few times as he doesnt have the best chin out there and as we all know Cory Sanders can punch.

Yep! Rossy and Minto would be good tests for Boytsov at this stage of his career.Vidoz is probably too big a step up right now.

So yea I was kinda bored and descided to make a short promo video of one of my favorite fighters, Denis Boytsov. Most of theses fights are old raging from his first pro fights to his 4th. The other ones are more recent than the first ones in the first half of the video. Its short but i like it.

his promoter runs the wbo. its universum box promotion and they can pay alot of money.

if you think his rating sucks, have a look at a certain number one ranked middleweight by the wbo..........sebastian szbik.

Just because other guys have undeserved rankings, in no way legitamizes Boytsov's undeserved ranking. Just like because Owen Beck gets a title shot...that Rob Calloway should get a title shot. If its wrong its wrong no matter how often it happens.

Seems Boytsov has looked rather ordinary in his latest fights. It's still early but his hype may not be legit.

He should be fighting at CW now, while he is still young, and make the transition to HW later in his career. He looks to be putting up wheight to fight at HW.

My opinion is that Boytsov is better fighter than Povetkin. The time will tell us. Povetkin was good like amateur but he cant be same in the profesional. Wladimir will destroy his dream.

Hopefully Boytsov goes on to do well. He has over 20 pro fights.

He's a long way from getting close to Povetkin's progress. Povetkin is what, 15-0 and has already fought unbeaten Chambers, as well as Byrd and Donald, and won an IBF tournament.

Povetkin will beat Wlad.

Boytsov looked very unimpressive against the tough journeyman Robert Hawkins. Not that he got hit often or looked clumsy, just that he did so incredibly little. What was his workrate, 15 punches a round or something? Maybe he was told to go the distance to get experience, but this was the wrong end of an extreme. Besides, in an aggressive Tyson-like fighter, it's that fire that drives them which makes them so interesting. Denis didn't show that although he did against lesser opposition earlier.

He won every round of his encounter with Hawkins. Whats more he went the full route with a tough journeyman and gained some valuable experience by doing so.
IMO he can afford to look less than stellar against these kind of opponents at this stage of his career.
He can test the water and learn how to pace a fight properly with an opponent like Hawkins.
Of course to win the hearts of the casual sport in front of a tv set he has to be more aggressive.
He has proved that he is capable to go out and score a spectacular ko victory against very limited opposition.
However,he hasnt proved yet that he can gun down bigger boats.

Good video he looks like a great prospect to me (what very little I have seen and read about him) I did noticed in the video he has great footwork. It might seem like a small thing but it's those little things at his age that will determind his future.

His hand was broken, and evidently he's been having hand and wrist problems for his last few fights. He just had surgery on the hand, so we'll see if he can go back to being a power puncher after it heals.

arreola seems to be in decline after defeats to adamek and vitali. it would be a nice gamble to put boytsov in with arreola. boytsov needs more rounds, first, though. beating a popular mex-american will certainly open doors for an exciting offensive minded heavyweight. perhaps due to arreola's drop in form, they might be able to get him to germany? without HBO on his side, arreola may have to hit the road, or maybe not. hopefully he does have to.
