............From the little of him I've been able to find on youtube, I would guess Langford would apply the kind of pressure it would take to wear down Ray's legs a bit, and the toughness and skills to ride out Robinson's flurries. What I don't know about Langford is the quality of his chin. Not too learned on the guy, I'm afraid.
I don't mean to imply he would brawl a'la Lamotta. He was quicker and cagier getting inside.

At a 156 catchweight (Langford of the Johnson fight), SRR wins, hes too good at that weight. Langford doesnt have the same skill/speed level to win but makes it a tough close fight with his pressure

Langford will employ the type of pressure i believe is neccessarry to be in with a chance, but Robinson will come into his own and take this one imo. Too great.

As PP has pointed out, it depends upon the weight, which will describe the version of Langford that gets in. I pick Robinson to outpoint the Langford that lost to Johnson (weighing around 160) in a horrible, tough one.
I pick the peak version of Langford to stop Robinson around 9 or 10. That guy would not be weighing less than 165-170 though. Which is unfair on Sugar.

I've often wondered how Robinson would have coped with the phenomenon Sam Langford...Quite frankly, I don't have an answer for this one. I'll take Robinson's skill set and attributes over practically anyone around his weight...But Langford? That is a scary proposition for any welter/middle, and it may be to much too ask. I'm with you guys...the lighter Langford weighs the better Robinson's chances are!

Langford's chin was iron. This is one of those fights where X factors such as the weights or ring sizes make a big difference.

Yes and yes.
The little bit of film we have though makes Langford look pretty decent at cutting and re-cutting the ring though.

Langford is able to cut the ring off..especially in the Lang footage. Langford looks like an absolute beast in the footage seen (I'd love to see the footage of Langford/Jeanette that cmoyle mentioned awhile back) after further thought I'd imagine Robinson would elect to fight in reverse gear and off the back foot, that would increase his chances greatly(that is not his MO, but in this instance...)

I'm assuming we are talking at 160 for 15 rounds ... I , of course, like Langford .... too strong, too much pressure and way too hard hitting ...I like him over any middleweight including Monzon ...
