People often wonder how this guy be such a top fighter. I agree that he seems like a nice guy in those pictures but he also looks very strong. Once in the ring his cold face looks very menacing. When I first saw him fight I thought that he was pretty intimidating. I showed my cousin the Fedor Randleman fight and he saw Fedor for the first time and thought he looked like a mean son of a bitch.

It really looks like that pesky U.F.C., Pride, Dana white thing is taking it's toll on him. He is by far my favorite MMA'er. Has been for years. I just pity the crook who thinks he is nothing and tries to mug him.

Couture showed just how good he is when he beat Ortiz. Some great skill displayed.
Belfort won one out of three simply because he accidentally fingered Coutures eye and got an injury stoppage.
Liddell put on two fantastic performances in how to beat the come forward, brawler, take down guy BUT fair is fair because Coutures first fight with Chuck was great stuff.

That's right, Tito Ortiz lost, my mistake,I was just throwing out names. I don't consider Ortiz much of anything, Belfort was talented, but no substance and losing to Liddell is okay considering the styles.
But there is no way Couture beats Fedor peak/peak, that's insanity or fanboyism to suggest so.
Besides, people think that a win over that slow, unskilled Tim Sylvia is reasoning enough to pick an oldman like Couture over Gonzaga...

Not much, but Couture hasn't got a chance in hell vs. Fedor at any point.
Amsterdam
07-19-2007, 04:01 AM
Tito got owned. Vitor got owned twice. I still pick Fedor no doubt, but those points were ridiculous.
The main point was he was defeated by lesser fighters, MUCH lesser fighters, specifically Liddell, even with styles considered. Randy equally has less of a chance against Fedor stylistically. Fedor can own him standing, in a clinch and on the ground.
I thought I remembered Tito beating him, but I admitted that was an error on my part.
I hate younghypnotiq.

07-19-2007, 04:05 AM
Nah Randy gave an absolute beating to Vitor and Tito. And Fedor has better striking and subs, but he doesn't have a better clinch game. Maybe equal, but not better. Randy is the better wrestler. It would be an interesting fight, but at the end I'd pick Fedor to either sub him or TKO him.
Think of the strength advantage in the clinch though.
Amsterdam
07-19-2007, 04:13 AM
I'm pretty sure Randy is stronger physically than Fedor, Fedor is just slicker. Did you see how Lindland picked up Fedor and was carrying him around in the clinch before Fedor threw him and subbed him. Randy is a bigger, stronger version of Lindland. As I said though, I still pick Fedor to win, I just think the clinch game is relatively even.
Do I underrate Couture?:think
Amsterdam
07-19-2007, 04:20 AM
I think so. He is an excellent fighter. Someone saying he would KO Fedor twice is what probably makes you underrate him. Randy is up there with the greatest ever, Fedor IS the greatest ever, that's the problem.
I HATE younghypnotiq.
But, I am skeptical that some people think Couture is rejuvinated, just because he beat that joke Sylvia(I picked him in that, easy). I think Gonzaga brutalises him.
Amsterdam
07-19-2007, 04:26 AM
I think Gonzaga is overrated, but he may just beat Randy if he is what he seemed to be that one night against Cro Cop. Randy has had trouble in the past with bigger grapplers(Barnett, Rodriguez). Not bigger strikers, but grapplers bigger than him that are able to offset his wrestling skills and ground game give him trouble. A fight with him and Gonzaga should show if Gonzaga is really as good as some think.
I think that Cro Cop removes Gonzaga's head in a rematch, but I still think Gonzaga is very good and will beat Couture. Gonzaga has more potential than anything, a big athletic guy with good fundamentals and a lot of strength....
Yep, considering Randy is going to be outweighed by around 30 lbs.. Unless Gonzaga turns out to not have huge strength, or if Randy is able outfinesse him which is very possible, he will lose. Randy is a little small to be fighting at heavy imo. I'm sure he could beat the majority of them, but when he runs into other big strong wrestler types, he cant rely on his strength for some of his nicer moves such as Gator rolls etc. A lot of his style is based on strength and control which you cant rely on when your fighting a guy who is familiar with what you are doing to them, has the same basic style of fighting, and is bigger and stronger than you.

I think reasonably highly of Ortiz, Belfort etc They are the best of an era.
I don't think anyone can beat Fedor, he has too many answers.
I had not seen much of Sylvia, just clips but he is awful. Nevertheless Couture done something great. It was like what Hopkins did i.e. in hindsight you have to underrate his opponent a little bit.

Looks like they're all at the dead sea in those pics.
I love Randy, he's a good guy and an awesome fighter BUT even he knows Fedor is a REAL BAD DUDE. Randy is second to none in his predictions lately and I don't think he'd pick himself against Fedor if he didn't have to contactually build the fight (should it ever happen)
Fedor is so bad it doesn't matter that he looks a bit cuddly and gets loads of homo pics taken of him, he is tough as fuck deep down inside, he's a born animal, a killing machine, he don't need 1000 crunches a day because he is genetically rock hard and strong so he can spend all his time training on technique.
Fedor is P4P the best there will probably ever be. And in a sport that is relativley new that is hard to comprehend/judge but I think it's the truth.
Fedor is already signed to the UFC but they are holding back the announcment as it would overshadow the Randy V GG fight. Dana is praying Randy wins and then Couture V Fedor is the biggest MMA fight EVER! and probably one to rival top tier boxing in terms of exposure/interest.
I think this is what's known as an emotional response.:nut

You know, Wladimir vs Fedor would be a fight I would love to see.......I don't think Fedor has ever faced anyone the size and strength of Wlad.....If Wlad learned a good takedown defense, it would be very interesting to see how he would do, He would automatically be considered the best striker in MMA.
He would have true 1 punch knockout power with those gloves, the flipside is, if he got clocked with clean punch with that shaky chin of his then goodnight......but yeah, Wlad would be one of the few people I would love to see compete in MMA.
There is no one in MMA with the size, strength, speed and general athleticism of Wladimir, maybe Arlovski comes close, but of course Wlad is vastly superior in punching technique and probably power too.
Like I said, if he learned good takedown defense and basic grappling skills such as how to detect and defend against submissions, that could be very interesting. He would be very interesting and a crowd pleaser for sure.
