Ricky Hatton is holding talks with Gaelic Games officials about a proposed rematch with Floyd Mayweather at Croke Park, Dublin.
Hatton has already sold out the City of Manchester Stadium for his bout with Juan Lacanzo, but is intent on bringing a potential Mayweather fight to an even wider audience at the 82,000 capacity home of the GAA.
Speaking on Thursday, the ‘Hitman’ revealed that Croke Park has joined Wembley in the race to stage the mouth-watering superfight which could attract over 100,000 to the Dublin venue.
“I keep breaking records,” Hatton said. “I am not overlooking Juan Lacanzo, but if 55,000 see me fight him, imagine what will happen against a bigger name.”
“I would love to set the all-time record for an outdoor crowd. We have looked at Croke Park. That is an arena that could do it. It is something we have our eye on. The Gaelic football pitch there is a lot bigger than a football pitch.
“You can’t think it could get any better but it does. It never ceases to amaze me as I have never seen myself as a superstar, but my fights have become more than a boxing match.”
Hatton was wowed by Croke Park last year when he visited the venue for a hurling game with sparring partner Matthew Macklin.

should do it at Wembley, would mean more. 80,000+ in the seats, 20,000+ pitch side.

Isn't the outdoor record around 120-30,000 for Chavez/Haugen?

Croke Park holds 82500, which is no more than Twickenham, and less than Wembley, but you could get more on the pitch at both Croke and Twickers.

Either way, 100000 could still be there, and Hatton Mayweather II would certainly sell it out.

CROKE PARK? Hardly a major name is it, not exactly Wembley is it?

to be quite honest i don't really give a shit. if this is what's bothering hatton then he should get out of the game and go into promoting.

Can't tell if you're being serious or not?

Croke Park is certainly one of the legendary stadiums of the World.

I know some people that went to the Six Nations match there last year and they felt perfectly welcome.

it won't be in vega if they can get 120 000 into croker for next summer which they can,it is such an emotional stadium, what other stadium can boast the fact that one of it's stands was built out of the rubble of the 1916 easter rising,it holds so much historical and emotional significance than nearly any other stadium,it would be a truly magnificent arena for an amazing sporting event.

it is an awe striking beast of a place at night and would be filled with great supporters!

Hatton can fight Floyd anywhere, in front of 100% Floyd haters, with any ref, and three of Ricky's drinking buddies as judges and still gets knocked out.

Muhammad Ali fought in Croke Park back in the day. Dunno who it was against.

Good enough for Ali, good enough for Hatton

Al 'blue' lewis.

It would be great to have the fight at croker. He would have both ireland and England behind him. You never know, it might sweep him to dizzying heights. There's no doubt he wasn't at his best in the last fight and hasn't been for a while.

This could energise him again.

Well then you won't have any irrational excuses when you little talentless down-syndrome-faced bitch of a fighter Ricky Hatton get's his ass knocked out fucking cold again by the far superior Mayweather.

I must admit that Dublin is a much better night out than London!

I have been to a couple of Rugby League finals in London and done the stop over, but getting into bars is bloody ridiculous - and when you do, someone will bump into you on purpose just to start a rumble.

Compare that to Dublin - all you need is money in your pocket and you are laughing, no trouble and people are friendly, and actually have manners.

Perhaps they identify a bit more with us northerners.

This shameless little fuck, who was beaten silly the 1st time is a greedy little fucker. He wants a rematch for the cash, there is no way he ever beats Mayweather or any truly talented welter ever, and since he is the only fighter of note over there he can probably pull this shit off. He should Keep his ass ay 140 and not mess up all the good competitive fights that are possible at 147. I dont care who he fights or what he does at 140 just stay out of the welterweight ranks cause you dont belong there.

No offense intended her Arran Wembley is a world class stadium i dont think anyone would dispute that but croke park WOULD hold more have you seen a soccer international in croke park? the GAA pitch is much bigger than soccer and rugby pitches hense you could fit more people on the pitch for the fight. which means more money in mayweather and hattons pocket!
:bbb :bbb :bbb :bbb

I doubt there will be 100,000 english fans at the fight as the irish will be more than happy to snap up tickets! :yep

would be great if it happens!! there is a buzz at the moment in ireland with the emergence of some great pros and the success of our amateurs reaching the olympics. Mayweather - Hatton here would be huge!! a good thing for the sport in general.
Hattons fans flocked to las vegas so coming to dublin should not be a problem.

:rofl :rofl :rofl

My grandad saw Ali beat Al "blue" lewis there back in the day. I'd deffo be up for it even though I see no way hatton beats mayweather.

All the big acts in the music world have being coming to Ireland as they realized that they could charge extortionate prices and that the Irish had more money than sense. Now that the economy is looking dicey you're not seeing so many sellouts as we're now more averse to parting with our hard earned cash/ill-gotten gains :deal...

Still though no hatton fight could compare to the atmosphere at croke park when the Dubs are kickin ass:bbb :happy :happy :happy :happy

(which is pretty rare nowadays:-( )

sounds like it would be a good venue for a big fight. However, nobody wants to see Floyd beat Hattons ass again, its a waste of everybodys time. If Ricky wants to fight in a big stadium in front of 80,000-100,000 people, fine, but he should find a different opponent and forget about Floyd..
