Record wise this one is even.
They do have a habit of showcasing 1 fighter and always putting "opponents" in there with them.

ESPN doesnt have the budget to put on the better matches.

Budget has nothing to do with good match making.Something USA's Tuesday Night Fight's used to do a good job of.

they don't have a choice. With their budget they can either put a good fighter against a can or a competitive fight between 2 average fighters. Personally I'd rather see a good fighter even if its more of a mismatch

they do have more even matches on undercards . . but those guys are almost always scrubs.
Maybe they should do away with Wed night fights and put more money n better matches on Friday, its a thought.

ESPN doesn't make the matches anyway. They help somewhat, but don't really have enough money to throw at the fight to have much sway.

Wasn't this two upsets in a row? I think Byrd was supposed to win, and same with Williams.

Same with Lee, same with Hernandez, same with Gogoladze, same with McGirt Jr. Lot of upsets on these showcase cards lately.

Mike Oliver's loss was a big upset, too. If I was a favorite fighting on ESPN this year, I'd be a little nervous.

I think that ESPN does a great job of showcasing up and coming talent ... they make do with what they got and they make the best it. I think as of late their fights have been better.
ESPN has given us some good fights and some good prospects to look for in the future.
Julio v Smith was good --
Cherry v Johnston was good
That fight last night was good
Bryd v George was good

ESPN is not to blame, all they do is televise the cards, we should be grateful they are at least giving us the opportunity in providing us with fights esp. at times with upcoming fighters into the sport of boxing...
Mbaye-Ngoudjo will be a good. competitive fight.....

That's a thought, but I'd hate to lose a night of boxing on basic cable.
I think the cards have been pretty good both for FNF and WNF this year. Some of the them have been underwhelming, but overall I think the quality has been good. And in June there is a week where Julio Diaz fights on WNF and Gamboa and Solis are in action on FNF. That's sweet.
