I am after watching the countdown Iv never understood this winky is boring argument watch his fights with Taylor,Ike and Vargas all entertaining fights, Hopkins is a craftsman and his last fight with Tarver was entertaining to so i think this will be a much better fight then most give it credit for.

On the countdown it was funny when Tito came to see Winky and Bernard said " Whats Tito gonna tell him to do that he didnt do in 12 rounds and got knocked out"

I think that is damning evidence that the G word is over used. One day either may be Great (although it is unlikely), but neither are as we speak.

Wow you dont think Bernard is a ATG? 20 title defenses at middleweight dont count for anything:huh

What!!! Hopkins hade 6 successful defences of the World Championship at Middleweight. I rate 35 fighters as Great, Hopkins is sneaking into the top 50, but is not in my top 35.
Whether you agree or not with my 35 fighters is one thing. But I think it is important to keep the G word special and thus conclude that no more than 30 or 40 fighters have ever been great.

man, I'm loving this countdown shows.
I'm hyped for this fight and everybody i konw got money on b-hop by decision, but i think hopkins stops winky in the 12th,because to me hopkins in the later rounds is more active and winky play's it safe.It will come down to the later rounds and whoever wants it most will come out with the win,i think the fight will be even through 8 rounds, after that hopkins will step up the tempo and show why he's the master at figuring out and beating southpaws.

Are you out of your frigg'n mind???? :patsch B-Hop is hands down an all-time Great and one of the best Middleweights of all-time. Winky is likely to be remembered as one of the best Jr. Middle's of all time and by far the best at that weight in his era. A win over B-Hop solidifies Winky's claim as great. Just look what Winky's done and then come back to me....oh and watch the Vargas fight, because he won that one too :good

Hopkins definitely, but Wright definitely not. Winky's got potential to get there, but he has not accomplished enough yet and is getting past his prime.

You are abusing the word Great by putting Wright in the frame, and Hopkins is pick-em at best.
Both are excellent fighters, Hopkins might even be brilliant, but they both fall short of being great IMO.

This might turn into a great fight, but I am not sure, if this will be like kissing your sister on the chic type of fight, and get to the bank to deposit the fat check....

I mostly disagree with this. While I feel ATG is thrown around a bit much, Hopkins certainly qualifies. Winky is right there as well.
They are both first ballot Hall of Famers.
When you beat guys like Tito, Mosley, Oscar, and Tarver, thats saying something. Those guys were the best of their generation.
Thats what makes an All Time Great, beating the best guys in your era.
Hopkins and Winky have done that.

Why? What more could both of them have done to earn that title in your mind? Wright dominated two Hall of Fame fighters, and if you don't speak technically, also WON the middleweight title from an undefeated prime champ and beat Vargas.
Hopkins resume speaks for itself.

As far as the fight goes, if two ATG's are fighting, I'm watching.
Simple as that.
I'm thinking it will be good.

No, I think that is where we disagree. To be an all time Great you do need an excellent resume. But you need intangables like redemption and on top of this you need to be an icon of your era...
Hopkins in the fullness of time as I have suggested may just sneak it and become a great. As for Ronald, even a first round KO win on Saturday does not get him there... yet.;)

Ya, SERIOUSLY.
They are both top 10 pound for pound guys.
You could make a strong case for both being in the top 5.
Why wouldn't someone watch this? Because there's a chance it could be less exhilerating than Pac - Morales?
Retarded if you ask me.

Being an icon has little to do with whether or not you are an all time great.
The majority of all time greats were NOT icons.
Thats really b.s. if you ask me.

Each to their own, but if boxing was purely about stats and whom beat whom, there would be no need for debate...

George Foreman said it best: Boxing is like jazz, the better it is... the less people will like it.
Watching Bernard Hopkins fight, I don't care who he fights, is watching boxing at its best.
By the way, my prediction is a B-Hop win, and an easy one on top of that. He will use is movement in order to keep Wright turning on his back foot. Wright does not punch with his opponent, he either blocks or punch... Bernard will circle Wright, staying out of reach and rush in occasionnally for a 1-3 punch flurry ... Wrights punch output will reach an all-time low.
I think Bernard is able to win every round of this fight.
I think after this fight Bernard will cement is place VERY high on the ATG list.

Boxing is not only about punching. It is about making the other guy miss, controlling the other guys behavior in the ring through feints, movement, defense and offense. There is a hell of a lot of activity going on when two fighters are supposedly "doing nothing"... true fans of the sport will be watching the foot movement of the two fighters, how they feint, how they impose their rythm on their opponent through movement.
I will never get bored watching a master like Bernard Hopkins. I will miss him a lot when he retires.

It's one of the most interesting fights in recent memory. In my opinion they are two ATG's. Winky is underrated himself, possibly one of the 50 best fighters i've seen.
Bernard IMO could easily be top 20-25 ATG.

Intrigued from a technical and scientific stand point yes. Even a little intrigued from a gladiatorial stand point because this is boxing and fights can always break out...
...BUT...
...the more these two talk about a war, the more I get turned off. X has said it a million times and Winky is getting carried away.
I can't help but watch X and think he isn't the same man he was 5 years ago. He could fight HARD but I'm not sure he can do it now. If he could, why didn't he do it v Taylor. Then again maybe the weight at that stage was draining him.
How is Winky going to handle the 170? His main game is to jab and come forward betwen a high guard. Will he produce what he did v Ike against a 6'1, 180 pound man?
There is a possibility for a FIGHT but I am intrigued from a TECHNICAL standpoint. If a fight breaks out then great, I win even more.

It will be very interesting to watch. Logically I feel that Hopkins can't do anything to get past Wright's defense, but if ANYONE could figure out a way, it is Bernard.
My guess is he's going to be landing counter right hands all night and win a comfy UD.

Few can talk about Tito and Taylor being their girlfriends and still come off like a thug. Tyson is one of these people, X is another.

I'm going for Winky to school Hopkins. Hopkins talks lots of trash but he doesn't back it up like he says. He wins and is a legend he needs to stop his tlak about this is war i'm ready to die my life or yours lol. Unless he's Marvin hagler who talks war with people and warred when he said he would X shouldn't claim such. I remember him talking about putting pressure on Taylor for there rematch and how he would knock him out but when fight time came he did the exact opposite. X is a great cerebral boxer but i can't stand his talk about how he is going to do this or that. Str8 up he should say i will win a decision. You can't take what the man says serious he made a promise to his mother he would stop fighting he kept talking about he is done once he reaches a certian age and he is just like anybody else still fighting. The fight will be a good fight if Hopkins makes it such Winky is always there to fight and its up to the his opponents to make it a good fight.
Winky will school the old man and put him into retirement. Hopkins is
9-0 against southpaws but its time for that O to Go.
