If the top guys in the light weight division moved up in weight, how do you think they would do against Hatton?
I personally feel Hatton has definitely lost a step and his physical advantages wouldnt be as imposing as they would have been a couple years ago. I would favor both Casamayor and Campbell who are both older than "The Hitman" but both still have plenty in the tank.

I would favour Hatton to beat either Casamayor or Campbell to be honest.

:yep
Hatton would whoop them a new one, lets get serious. There is some terrible ass underrating going on, just because he didn't look top level elite in his comeback from a loss :patsch

Alot of people seem to think Katsidis would give Hatton a good scrap and he was a recent victum of a Casamayor "check hook". We all know Hatton is open to getting caught with the left as was the case against Mayweather and even Lazcano hurt him with the left. Casa has an excellent left hand and managed to sustain his attack against an aggressive pressure fighter like Katsidis who I think hits harder than Hatton. It would be an interesting fight.

I take Hatton over all comers at 35.

I'd pick the wily vet Casamayor to beat Hatton, but most certainly not Katsidis.

Hatton couldn't even whoop Lazcano; he had his ass bailed out by the ref. Your conclusion hardly seems self evident.

Id pick Hatton over all of them. Easily.

Maybe Casamayor would have had a great chance a few years back but not now.

Hatton beats all the 135 fighters, Casamayor, Campbell, Katsidis the lot.

Casamayor would be the only one who would stand a chance; it would still be 60-40 in Hatton's favour IMHO.

I would say that he whooped Lazcano to be honest.
I had it 118-110, possibly 119-109 if being harsh to Lazcano - and so what if he hurt Hatton, the key is how you deal with being hurt. Do you just stand there and let him lamp you?
He could have had Lazcano out of there a couple of times, but credit to Juan, he sucked up the punishment, and in my opinion, deserved to hear the final bell.

It's a damn shame that Fatton can't make 135 because his height/reach would serve him better in that weight class and it's more prestigious than 140 pounds. Too bad he can't put down the ale.
GazOC

I don't think its the ale that stops him getting to 135, he's just to big. He makes 140 without an ounce of fat on him.

:good impossible for his frame i think, he would look like Bobby friggin Thompson....

I think he could if he really tried, i.e. keeping his weight to a maximum of 11 stone in between fights and being less muscly.
This would probably be of detriment to him in the ring, but I would guess that not many people have won world titles at welter, to later move down to light and win there.
Something worth considering I would say.
There is no-one in the forseeable future who would BEAT Hatton, some would cause him a few problems....btu none would BEAT him.

Hatton is started to look like a tired fighter and fighting at 135 is only gonna amplify that.

casa prime would be the only person i would put money on to beat hatton

Hatton beats them all. He can't make 135, but if they come to 140, he gets all of them. Maybe Amir Khan or Peterson will be able to beat him in the future, but not right now. They're not ready, and who knows how they would do with the extra weight.
Well I had a theory a few years back that Casa would beat hatton because style wise he is a nightmare for him, a slick, dirty southpaw, with speed a a bit of pop, i saw him boxing safe early on before opening cuts on Ricky and stopping him mid to late. Faded Hatton Vs faded Casa is still a very very good match for me.
Pacman gets destroyed by any version of Ricky Hatton, Pac doesnt have great defence and is unproven at lightweight let along a big light welter like Hatton, Hatton would TKO him in 4.
Hatton would also stop Diaz in a very exciting fight, both aggressive comeford fighters, but Hatton has the strength advantage and could stop baby Bull late, wouldnt be surprised in a clear UD win though.
Campbell would be a good fight but I see Hatton winning.
I will say though at 140 I thought Ricky was a clear favourite to beat all the champs there, I dont think that anymore, PM, Witter, Bradly, Torres all have a great chance. The Lazcano win obviously didnt prove much to me other than Hatton doesnt have much time left.

Like I said earlier, Hatton can get hit and hurt by the left hand. Casa put Katsidis down twice in the first round with the left and used the "check lefthook" late in the fight to effectively win. Hatton was hurt by Lazcano's left as well. So in response to your opinion that PACQUIAO would get destroyed by Hatton I ask you this; How does Hatton respond to to Pac's left hand? I believe his left hand at 130lbs is more powerful than Lazcano's left at 140. Pac has been startching himself to make the 130lbs limit so Im one who believes he can take his power up a weightclass or two and may become even more stronger.

Hatton will look alot better in his next fight than he did in this previous one. Take into consideration the knockout loss, the post fight binge, training down to 140 instead of 147, all the money he just made... Alot of factors working against him to put in a mediocre performance.

It would be great if Hatton could go to 135 and be a three weight champ. Not sure if he could ever make the weight though - extremely unlikely.

katsidis is a dumb ass shit, that thing he did in the 10th round was just fucking dumb..hatton would not rush in like that. Let alone against someone who is known to be a smart boxer. Against floyd he got simply caught and floyd is way more faster than casamayor

Considering the level of competition will be a step up from Lazcano when he fights Malignaggi next, I dont know what the expectations should be for Hatton. Paulie is no Mayweather however he is a slick boxer whose skills could give Ricky some problems. Considering Paulie does have experience fighting against pressure fighters (i.e Cotto who is a stronger more skilled version of Hatton) he shouldnt be overlooked. Im one who thinks Paulie has the skillset it would take to upset "The Hitman".

Personally I think Hatton SHOULD be at 135! I wrote a long post a few weeks ago to start a thread about the idea, but somehow the thing got deleted.
In short, Hatton is not a lot bigger than the top lightweights, but if he was actually dedicated to the sport he could make 135 easily and actually have a strength advantage over his opponents.

The thread questions how he would do if the top 135 pounders moved up to face Hatton however if their were some way he could actually make it down to 135lbs how do you see him doing against the likes of Casamayor, Campbell, J. Diaz, Katsidis, Pac, etc?

Its hard to say. Casamayor and Campbell are older guys,, and a lot of how well they do depends on how well they're doing 'that night'. They're not always at their best. I see Casamayor and Campbell as being able to beat Hatton at their best, but not on an off night. Diaz I think would lose. He likes to fight inside and trade punches, Hatton likes to Maul and throw shots when his opponent can't even throw. If Diaz eventually folded under Campbell's attack, I think Hatton could beat him by decision. Katsidis I think because of his brawling gets beaten by the larger Hatton. Pacquiao I can't even really say I care about at 135. Pacquiao is undersized for 135 he's just moving up to chase paychecks and easy titles.
I think Casamayor if he is ON the night of the fight gives Hatton the most trouble though. He is capable of master boxer Mayweather-esque feats that will drive Hatton crazy.

Im one who believes Pac will bring his power to 135lbs. In his last couple of fights he weighed close to the Welter limit on the nights of those fights. He's been draining himself to make 130 so I think that a less drained Pac would be even more powerful. We all know about Pac's straight left hand and after watching the Mayweather KO and Lazcano hurting Hatton with the left, I would question Hatton's ability to take Pac's best shots.

get real hatton would destroy any of those fights : campbell might hang in there 4 about 8 rounds then its a k0 for hatton.
What is your opinion based on? Cause I haven't seen any evidence that would support tour theory in Hatton's last couple fights. The light weight elites, I believe are better boxers from a talent standpoint than the elites of the 140lbs division. Ofcoase they'd be at a disadvantage from a size and power standpoint; however, the would make up the difference in talent in my estimation.
