Pretty Boy Floyd or Roy Jones Junior? In their prime whos better P4P?

They are different. Jones more talented and impressive, but Mayweather in technically better. The result is the same, they can both dominate opponents and win.

I gotta go with Jones. You just couldn't hit the guy and he through punches from all over. Plus he beat Hopkins and Toney during that time, two first ballot hall of famers. And he did his thing from MW to HW. Floyd can't compare to that.

Good post.

Although I would favour Roy on an all-time p4p list, and in a p4p H2H match - when both in their primes. So I went with Roy (but not by MUCH at all)

I'm gonna go with Floyd ... two different eras though ... roy started in 89 and FLoyd started in 96 ... it took Roy longer than Floyd to get a world title ... and to achieve p4p status.

Roy's reign was 93-03 w/ 4 weight classes and a DQ loss in between ... and no one really appreciated roy (outside of his fans) until he lost ...

Floyd's reign is from 98-08 w/ 5 weight classes and is still reigning as p4p king ...

Both are great stellar careers ... and are on the same level ... Roy's HW championship trumps Floyd's SWW champions, but the fact that Floyd is still reigning says this discussion has to be revisted once Floyd and Roy hangs up the gloves.

I can almost guarantee that when Floyd has left boxing for a few years - or loses a few times when he's past it, even if he keeps fighting on when he should retire - the "by far" will be dropped. As PBF is p4p no. 1 and at his height, just like it was for Roy, there's a lot of hatred/dislike from a number of fans.

This will change over time, as it normally does.

With that said, I still went with Roy.

Jones beat better opponents and did so in more dominant fashion, so the answer is clear: Jones.

Floyd had some controversial close decision wins during his prime, (Castillo, DLH). During Jones prime, he barely lose a round.

Jones clearly for me.

PBF is certainly very good, but RJJ at his peak was like something from another planet. The combinations, the speed, power, movement, evasion, etc. He had some scary talent.

You have to take into fact that Roy Jones Jr was not promoted.

That was a good statement saying that we have to wait till they both retire for good.

Still nomatter what I have to say RJJ
