Has Kevin Mitchells opponent for the Pavlik undercard been named yet?
If not has anyone any idea as to who it will be?

I hope it is someone who will at least test him a bit. It won't do him any good fighting in America unless his opponent is credible.
Considering that it is on the undercard of a Pavlik fight I think it is a little strange that they haven't found/named his opponent yet?!
:deal
I can now announce Mitchell's opponent. He's outdone himself on his can of the month tour this time fellas...

He was looking to find a an Ex-Champ.
I dont think hes going to get that expectation otherwise we would of heard about the opponent already.
It would have to be a pretty well worthy fighter with his WBO on the line.
Pluss, its well known that hes been giving alot of grief to Frank ****** to really up his profile in the U.S
It wouldnt suprise me if Kevin changes promotion if he doesent get his desired prospects.

Ex-champs that could be got on a weeks notice:
Cruz Carbajal
Mauricio Martinez
Adonis Rivas
Ivan Hernandez
Danny Romero
Felix Machado
Eric Aiken
Freddie Norwood
Cesar Soto
****** would probably feel the likes of Aiken or Soto still are too much of a threat . That list doesn't matter anyway as I doubt we will be getting an ex champion but I'm just point to the fact that it'd be possible if ****** was that pushed .

what about manuel medina?

what about manuel medina?
According to boxrec he has a fight with Malcolm Klassen lined up , which I'm guessing would be an IBF eliminator if true .
Considering the #1 spot is vacant , Medina is #2 and Klassen is #3 it seems that it's likely .
Medina would have been the perfect opponent for Mitchell but ****** would probably feel he is too dangerous .
It seems like Medina is never going to go away , he's been fighting at World level for about 18 years now !
Still no news?
Damn I like Kevin, but this bullshit tests my patience. He's had..what..25 fights now? One single solitary credible opponent
Ok I Know you cut your amateur career short, but come on. The opponent stock room is running out of tomato cans :patsch

with an overly leaky defence the number of ex-champs would be seriously narrowed, medinas an old warrior but i could see him giving mitchell a boxing lesson. This is the same guy who defeated harrison not so long ago

Does it matter who he fight's?
He took a massive amount of damage against carl and his level was exposed to us.
I would'nt be suprised if that fight has taken something out of him tbh.

Not to bad actually, he can obviously punch, and be KO. will be an exciting fight.

Kevin should get the IBF belt, he could beat there champ and all the top contenders rnaked. Then get a unification with Arthur at the 02, would be a huge match next year in the summer.
He would then pout himself into a postion to make serious cash against Valero, Gamboa and maybe even Pac or marquez if there still about. I mean i doubt ****** would let it happen but he did eventually put hatton in with tysuzu and calzaghe in with lacy.
Could have been a lot lot worse, but the skeptic inside me says this guy is probably way past his best. Notable results are a stoppage losses to Harrison and Mosquera. He went 8 rounds with Mosquera, who recently took Valero 10. That was 2005 though...
