I've seen about ten or so of his amateur fights. He edged the fight against Romanchuk only because Romanchuk chose to slug instead of box (he tends to do that against sluggers, look at his fight with Poyatsika). If Romanchuk had decided to box and move, his skill level would have won him the fight in my opinion.

I heard rumors that many thought Romanchuk actually won their selection sparring (rumors, haven't seen it myself), however, personally I'd rate Romanchuk higher.

On the other hand, Chakhiev is extremely strong, physically and in terms of will power, usually fit and he keeps coming forward. Quite a fun guy to watch, but he can be beaten.

Thanks for the info and the links. I was just curious about the guy that beat out Romanchuk. I liked Romanchuk a lot and thought he would have to be a favorite in the Olympics. I hope he turns pro soon.

Same here. If Helenius can turn pro so quickly, then why can't Romanchuk?
With some refinement to his game, I think Romanchuk is good enough to fight for a world title one day.

I agree and he better not wait too long. He's already like 28 or somerthing isn't he?

I think Romanchuk is 27 or 28. This is not too old. Perhaps Romanchuk has another option to make a living besides boxing. Perhaps he has legal problems. Perhaps he has an injury. Or perhaps he's just waiting for the right offer.

Just before and just after the Olympics end, many amateurs tend to go pro.

I think Romanchuk would be a good fight with Greenberg in the USA, Florida ( Ibragimov’s manager ) or with Sauerland
