How do you proceed with the other three Cuban Olympic Champions who fight for arena?
Öner: “Odlanier Solis, Yuriorkis Gamboa and Yan Barthelemy will get lots of fights so that they rise quickly in the World rankings. Gamboa is already ranked within the Top 40 in the WBC – after only three professional fights! I don’t think that anybody went through the roof like that ever before!”
Which one of those three will be the first one to get a shot at the World Championship?
Öner: “That will probably be Gamboa as well. His next fight will be on September 2nd in Berlin, after that we will present all three of them on our own show in Lübeck.”
When will Gamboa be ready for a title shot?
Öner: “If he stays healthy and doesn’t get injured I am sure that he will be World Champion by the end of next year.”
We won't be seeing valero-gamboa this year then, hopefully valero is still champion by next year:deal

Can't we just boycott this fuck Oner?
Any fighter that would work with him deserves no acclaim.

Why do you post a 1 year-old interview?
Gamboa's 3rd fight was one year ago... today he's ranked no3 by the WBA (his next opponent will be vs. no2 Jose Rojas, so the winner could be named as the mandatory challenger for Valero) and 4th by the WBC (and the title becomes vacant when PacMan moves up)...
A world title fight at the end of 2008 sounds logical to me, that's what Öner promised and it looks like he's delivering it... So if can get that world title opportunity by the end of the year and his fighter can win fair, that's a good first step to forgiveness...
Gamboa MUST stay focused, and all I'm care is his career the be handeled very professionally... so far, looking at his pro career, it seems the management's work is very well...

Yeah, it is a shame Gamboa is promoted by a fraud.

But I don't see that happening.

Further proves that Valero will knock Gamboa out ... the promoter is looking out for Gamboa's best interest ... he's making sure that Gamboa racks up some fights against guys who he can beat before he takes that major step up in class.

How does this "prove anything"? Explain how this interview proves your point please, cause I think you are the only person making the connection. Keep in mind this interview is A YEAR OLD

No..no he doesn't :-(. Such a rediculous statement. He may need improvement in certain areas but he definately does not suck. I agree that he has been hyped up by a lot of people, but regardless of whether I'm a fan or not(I'm not), he definately does not suck in my book. :verysad:roll:

at 28 and over 400 amateur fights and alot of internation experience ... this guys should be ready for a title like Oscar within 12 fights.
Physically he's peaked and can't get any better ... the bad habits that he has will lead to his doom.

he doesn't do some of the ridiculous shit that Gamboa does and at the same age ... he's far more advanced on the professional and actually is world class.
