Despite FM being arguably the greatest technical boxer of this era Im pretty sure that any future superfight involving him with either Cotto/Hatton would be a borefest as FM will just not make a fight of it & pretty much run........Im pretty sure that Hatton v Cotto would be the "superfight" that boxing needs............Without doubt people will post ridiculous replies like "Cotto destroys Hatton"...etc..etc.........I personally think that it would be a toe to toe extravaganza......Huge body punchers in close mixing it up in a proper tear up.........If you want to watch technical class......watch FM & his evasion techniques , However for a blood & guts excitement fest I think you'd struggle to beat Hatton V Cotto............You also have to take into account the fanbase that both fighters can bring.............A truly hardcore match up in my opinion !!!!

There are great fights for Hatton but there at 147 and Hatton doesnt like 147 and i dont think Cotto wants to go back down in weight he looked like he was killing himself at 140..
I don't think Cotto can make 140 anymore, Hatton is just gonna have to adapt to 147 to make these fights happen. I do think he can lure PBF down to 140 though.

I would much rather see Cotto vs. Mayweather, Mosley, Cintron, Clottey, Margarito etc., because Hatton makes ugly ugly fights, and I have no desire to see him fight anyone. I know already if a fight with Cotto materialized, Hatton's gameplan would heavily revolve around holding Cotto's left while he clubs away with the opposite hand.

you could say cotto was the better fighter but hatton's tougher and would last longer in a war. I can see hatton taking cottos punches but cotto might not take hattons. Hattons already proved he can survive in brutal slugfests but I think cotto's ability to do that is a bit suspect.
great fight between two of my favorite fighters.

:patsch they dont come tougher than cotto, and how many wars has hatton actually been in, did you see what cotto did to judah?? hatton had trouble with judahs sparring partner collazo
and what brutal slugfest did hatton exactly survive?? the one against maggee?
cotto cant take hattons punches?? are you crazy, have you ever seen cotto fight?

Cotto at 147 would show hatton what a body punch really is. Two landed punches by Cotto and hatton will down right throw boxing out of the window and try to wrestle cotto. I mean all out wrestle. Cotto is strong as an ox too. Cotto would punish hatton worse then he has ever been hit. Tsyu was old and could not handle smothering. Cotto wants you close...it makes his offense alot easier. Big difference in skill and power between the two.

I do think that the weight fought at make s big difference in a Hatton Cotto match up..........I think Ricky has the edge at 140 but at 147 it would be Cotto............Given the right amount of time & right conditioning at EITHER weight its got the makings of a classic...............Seriously With the exception of Calzaghe/Kessler there isnt a a BIG fight coming up that tickles my balls !!!!..............The last Superfightor should I say supershite was DLH v FM & we all know what a fuckin yawn inducing fuck up that was...........Next we have Hopkins & Winky.........mmmmmmmm............cant see that won being that memorable...!!!!!............I think that both Cotto & Hatton can bring what is needed to the table and at the moment love them or hate them both guys certainly capture the boxing publics imagination.........Hopefully their paths will cross sooner rather than later........

I'll make it short . . . because Hatton is not interested to go up to 147 and fight Cotto. All Coto wanted now is to establish himself at 147 and I don't think he'll go down where he is having problem making the weight.

how could hatton have trouble going up to 147, when he has to come down from 190 anyways?

cotto hatton would be marvellous. as stumpy as ricky is i'm sure he could add seven pounds if he did it properly and over the requisite amount of time. wouldn't pick a winner though cos i'm a coward

The problem is with alot of fight fans is that they are judging Hattons 147 prospects on the back of his ill fated foray against Collazo...........1 fight for fucks sake..........There wasnt the time for the right conditioning needed to effectivley go up a weight & it showed big time............I think given the right time & regime Hatton could move up & be effective at 147..........Lets be honest if he wants the dues he has to move up sooner rather than later anyway...............Thats where the men & the money are............Anyway the point of my thread is that if Rickys moving up to 147 for Mayweather I would much rather see him do it and fight Cotto.........I know enough about this game to admit that his style against Mayweathers whilst on one hand could cause FM problems on the other hand could make Hatton look silly..........At least against Cotto we'll get action.......

Nah nah nah . . . I for one is basing it for what came out of Hatton's own mouth. He said he's not comfortable at that weight and since he came down back to 140 I don't think he'll go up back to 147.
If he does then I'll be impressed. :yep

Hatton is only a 140 fighter.
At 147, against any of the top guys, he gets a licken.

Hatton got bitched at 147 by Luis...why would Hatton want to end his career or even his life against Cotto? Tell Hatton to stop being a pussy and face some real competition at 147.
cotto still needs to prove it on that top level for me.
people go on about castillo being past it but judah weren't exactly the young exciting talent anymore either.

hattons war with zoo pisses all over any supposed war cotto has been in.

Castillo only looked shot becouse hatton gave him no room to breath. Il admit he was past his best, but hes in just as good a condition as Judah. He lost to a journeyman 18 months ago - that gives you an idea of what hes like now!
Hatton would be ok at 147 against Cotto. the disparity in natural size between them I don't feel is to great. If Hatton was taking on a big Welter, like say margo, that's a different matter. but against Cotto or PBF Idon't really mind what the weight is.
Btw, this fight will happen within two years, probably next year. And I take Hatton by mid-round stoppage because I favour his whiskers and defence (he rarely gets hit flush, and his footwork is far superior). it's not that I doubt Cotto's beard as such, but he can be shaken - and unlike some of cotto's previous foes, Hatton more than has the ability to follow up. that's the difference for me.
But, really, I'd like to see a round robin with these two and PBF. That's three great fights that would pretty much define their era, and they could all retire on those fights as the legends of their time.

Floyd vs Cotto or Hatton would be a good fight. As far as this running thing, your tripping. Movement and running are two different thing :yep However, a Hatton fight and Cotto fight would be more intertaining because it would be a slug fest. On the other hand, those to against Floyd maybe slower because it would be a boxing clinic put on Hatton and Cotto.
