Sad that Mosquera pulled out with injury.

Andreas Seran in the main event could very well spring a surprise if Shannan Taylor doesn't come to the ring fully focused.
Also having Craig Christian in his corner can only help Seran.

It was more like a gathering at the mutual respect society than a pre fight press conference as former wild child Shannan Taylor and Indonesian wild man Andreas “Mayorga” Seran came together at the Soulz Bar on the Gold Coast's uppety Chevron Island today. Taylor 36 and his 28 year old opponent square off tomorrow night, headlining a Jamie Myer Fox Friday Fight Night at the Gold Coast Convention Center with the vacant PABA middleweight title up for the taking.

A win is important, especially for Taylor, written off by many, as not only will it see him re enter the world ranking's but set up a fight with Anthony Mundine, who intends to move down to 160 pounds.

“I have trained harder than I have since my welterweight days” said the Bulli Blaster who lost a challenge to Shane Mosley for the WBC 147 lb title in 2001. “Why? A win will get me Mundine, a fight I have wanted since 2001. I also know that my good friend Craig Christian will be in the other corner and that his fighters are super fit. He rang me when this fight was made and I said' Craig, it's business, we are friends and will be friends after the fight'. I have trained at his Harry's Gym in Perth and I have seen what he puts his fighters through. Andreas looks hard. I have been running ten kilometers a day instead of seven, I've been sparring, 16, 18, 20 rounds with fighters like (Aussie 168 lb champ) Israel Kani, Robbie Toomey, Joel Burke, Adrian Campbell”.

Seran didn't have much to say except “ I will win. From my heart I will win! Trust me. Craig Christian has pushed me and pushed me. This is my chance”.

While Seran's 8 – 5 -1, 6 KO's record on boxrec looks less than flash, compared to Taylor's 45-6-3, 31 KO's, there is no doubt that is incomplete. His second bout was a scheduled twelve against world top ten Filipino Dennis Laurente. He is a former Indonesian welterweight champ and has been on the wrong end of a couple of iffy at best decisions here. He enters the ring rated number 10 by the PABA, former title holder Taylor number one by the ANBF as well as the PABA.

Christian, whose West Australian based stable includes WBA 126 pound boss Chris John and hot junior lightweight prospect Willie Kickett was equally respectful towards Taylor. “Shannan is my friend. I have a lot of respect for him but he will have to be the old Shannan to beat Andreas tomorrow night. Andreas is on the comeback trail, I told him I will back him, when this offer was made, I had to take it and give him the chance. In Indonesia he can't afford water, let alone eat and train, he is hungry, he knows he can make a lot if he wins this fight. I told Jamie Myer that Shannan is not going to fight Mundine because Andreas is going to knock him out”.

“Every fight is a fight you have to win” said Taylor when asked it this was a must win. “I have suffered losses that I shouldn't have because I was not living right and I was doing the wrong thing. I have gone in to camp for his fight, I'm hungry in the pit of my stomach. I have been robbed of money, my house, I've had to dedicate myself. I've gone back to work (on construction), it has hardened my body. I had to get sponsors to pay me to train for this fight Deep inside in the pit of my gut, there's a knot. I'm out to make Andreas pay for me being robbed”.

On Mundine he said “Listen, when you meet Anthony Mundine and sit down with him, you can't find one bad part to him. When the camera's come in he turns in to a circus but he is making the money. He is a good fighter. At middleweight I don't think he will be as strong . After this fight I will be back in the gym next week. I'd like to have one or two more fights before Mundine, even go to Germany and knock out Felix Sturm and then defend my title against The Man. If I beat him everyone will love Shannan Taylor. I will be a national hero. But don't let anyone tell you Anthony Mundine is not a good bloke”.

For Australian viewers, tomorrow's fight card begins at 7.30 pm.
