He won silver at the 2002 European championships so he has a pretty good amateur background. Here is pretty much all I could find. For some reason he didn't get picked up by one of the big German promoters and has had most of his fights in Ukraine.
1997 won the European Junior Championships in Birmingham, England as a Light Heavyweight, beating Steffen Kretschmann ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) (Germany) in the final.
1999 3rd place at the Military World Championships in Zagreb, Croatia. Results were:
Defeated Garib Orujev ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) (Azerbaijan) PTS (8-3)
Defeated Dirang Thipe ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) (Botswana) PTS (8-1)
Lost to Alexander Lebziak ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) (Russia) PTS (3-10)
2001 3rd place at the World Championship in Belfast, Northern Ireland as a Heavyweight, lost in the semifinal to David Haye ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) (Great Britain)
2001 4th place at the Goodwill Games in Brisbane, Australia. Results were:
Lost the semifinal to Yevgeni Arkhipov ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) (Russia) PTS (5-12)
Lost the third place bout to Andreas Gustafsson ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) (Sweden) PTS (10-11)
2002 2nd place at the European Championsships in Perm (Russia), losing the final to Yevgeni Makarenko ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) (Russia)
2003 competed at the World Championships in Bangkok, Thailand. Results were:
Defeated Alan Reynolds ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) (Ireland) PTS (19-17)
Lost to Milorad Gajovic ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) (Serbia und Montenegro) PTS (13-16)Retrieved from "[Only registered and activated users can see links] ([Only registered and activated users can see links])"

I haven't seen him as a pro, but he fought as a heavyweight in the amateurs and I watched his final at the Europeans against Makarenko (who had moved up to heavyweight that year). Makarenko RSCOd him if I remember correctly on the 20 point rule. Hard to tell how good he was from that because Makarenko kept him away with his really long reach.

Also if he is content to fight in Ukraine against c-level competition then he is obviously not getting the kind of world class sparring he needs to develop as a pro. Even if he does have talent it may not be getting developed. Another example of the need for a good manager.

He is as stiff as a rusty robot.IMO he will never be a true top gun. The lighter version of Valery Brudov. Well, a lighter and a stiffer version of Brudov.

How do you rate Uzelkov's performance in recent fight vs Denis Simcic?
