You know , i'm the first one to criticise this guy. I'm often the first person to say things like: "Sylvia is too fucking slow"..."too one dimensional" etc...
Having said all that , i can't just ignore some of the fighters he defeated in his career.
He won against:
Ben Rothwell (25 wins 5 losses undefeated since 2005)
Mike Whitehead (21 wins 5 losses undefeated since his last 2006 loss)
Ricco Rodriguez (prime Ricco)
Gan McGee (retired since 2004 , solid gatekeeper at the time)
Andrei Arlovski (defeated him when everyone was expecting tim to get crushed)
Jeff Monson (most though Monson would either pull a sub or win with his superior wrestling by UD)...
Then he lost to Couture...but he ended up defeating the younger & talented...
Brandon Vera (everyone was riding the guy's bandwagon at the time , almost everyone was giving Vera the edge..but he still ended up losing...Sure it was an extremely boring fight , but a win is a win right ? )
Then Sylvia "tried" his best to bring as much action as he could vs Nogueira , it was rather surprising to see him put so much effort but in the end , Nog pulled a sub & won...
Anyway , there's at least 10 or 12 important wins on this guy's record. He's big. fucking slow as shit (a bit kinda Foreman during the 90's...Foreman would move like a fucking turtle but would still end up winning vs the younger Moorer)
Tim generally wins because of his huge size & reach (and takedown defense) , a rather one dimensional game but it works most of the time. + He's never been KOed...
I don't think he'll be able to impose anything on a guy like Fedor but who knows....maybe this fight will end up being a huge challenge for fedor afterall...(or not) or maybe we'll see a miracle (upset of mma history)...All i'm saying is that as one dimensional as that guy is ,... you never know.. his chances are not totally hopeless.
