I don't see Winky getting stopped. Hopkins decision makes sense, though.

NO way he gets stopped. Out of curiosity how do you guys see B Hop handling the workrate and pressure of Winky? Personally I don't think he can. Hop likes to fight in spurts. Even against the often times un effective pressure of Taylor it was enough to throw him off his game. I see Winky taking this one out, and Hopkins using a lot of lateral movement but not throwing enough again and thus losing a UD.

I totally agree...Winky is gonna overwhelm Hopkins with volume. At best, Hopkins will land a few solid straight hands, hold Winky and move. Jermain Taylor hit Wright SOLIDLY and flush with his straight right hand many times when they fought and Winky never even showed that he was in the least bit hurt. Once Bernard hits Winky (if he can get past that shield of a guard), and realizes that he has no power to do anything to Winky, he's gonna be in big trouble.
Winky Wright wins this fight on volume.

Winky Wright wins this fight on volume. No matter who wins, it is 100% going to decision, nobody is getting knocked out here.

Tough call...If Winky can fight @170 like 160 with a high workrate, then I'm
leaning toward him. However, Hopkins is fighting to win and will try everthing.
He should find Winky's weakness and capitalize. Tough call. Winky maybe outworking the old man.

This is the fight where Hopkins age catches up with him, he wont be able to keep Winky off of him. Winky's gonna win on workrate and accuracy.

Hopkins will not be there to be hit. His footwork will allow him to evade punishment and pound the flat footed Winky with counters.

Winky's usual strategy won't be useful for him at 170. He won't be able to outbox Bernard at that weight, his jab won't be the same.

Winky Wright is taylor made for Bernard Hopkins. Bernard Hopkins' movement will nullify Winky's offense and his ability to strike from odd angles will force Wright into a defensive mode from which he will not be able to score.

I don't understand why people call Winky Wright a chess player. He is not a chessplayer at all! He is basically very one dimensional, but his one dimension is pretty effective and suits him very well! He's not even a counterpuncher, in fact, he can't counterpunch a lick due to his poor balance and his defensive style.

Winky needs his opponent to collaborate for him to be effective. He dares his opponents to try to hit through his guard, and most of them fall in the trap. Notice how Winky was unable to get anything going whenever Taylor, who's got horrible footwork, used some movement in the middle of the ring. The reason for this is that Wright needs two things to be effective: to plant his feet and for you to do the same thing. Now Bernard will not be doing that.

Bernard will stay out of range with his superior footwork (watch the Eastman fight or the Tarver fight), feint a lot, and leap in when Winky outreaches with the jab. Bernard will do what Manny Stewart tried to get Taylor to do: punch at the same time Winky is jabbing. However, Taylor can't counterpunch because of his lazy footwork. Bernard can and will get in the right hand.

MARK MY WORDS: Bernard Hopkins will win every round against Winky Wright.

if winky walks around at 190 it's because he eats too many krispy kreme donuts

I think Hopkins takes this one, in the latter rounds. He is quick, great movement around the ring. Winky can't match this. Wright's workrate is usually good, but if Hop isn't in a position to be hit, it won't work. I think the old fella still has some left in the tank and with his heavy hitting, he takes it in the 10th.

Very thoughtful analysis...I almost want to agree with you entirely. I agree that Winky definitely needs to have his feet planted AND his opponent's feet planted to be effective with his jab and occasional straight left. Hopkins' footwork will definitely force Winky to punch while moving which he does not like to do...I think Hopkins will move and try to lunge in with the straight right and hold Winky, but i dont think he will be too effective doing that. Once Bernard comes in, I can see Winky being effective with short hooks on the inside, and jabbing Bernard on his way out....One thing we know for a FACT: Bernard will be throwing about 20-30 punches a round, while Winky will be (at least attempting to) throwing around 90-100....any punches that Bernard does land will do very little damage to Winky (Jermain Taylor is a much harder puncher than Hopkins and he caught Winky flush many times, but it didnt do anything to him). I see Hopkins moving a lot, and giving Winky problems, but again, I see Winky pulling this out on volume.

Hopkins has good movement but at 42 can he sustain it and up his punch output when Winky puts the pressure on, I don't think he can, whoever controls the pace wins this fight.
