Definitely, but only if the winner is Williams IMO. Quintana won't fight him again, that is for certain. If Williams can manage to pick up a title, it means that Cotto could grab another belt, whilst beating another good opponent.

Naw, let quintana and williams fight their rubbermatch ( im assuming Williams wins the rematch).

its a step backwards even if it is williams, he should fight someone else instead like the winner of the vacant IBF belt

As an alternative to Mayweather, Cotto should fight Clottey once the latter takes the IBF belt.

so at least he's got options with either clottey or the winner ...

It's never a step backwards if you are winning another belt. anytime you are trying to unify, it's always a step in the right direction. i would hope that if he beats margarito that outside of any mandatories, he should fight other title holders. That would leave him with williams/quintana winner, clottey/zab winner.

Agreed.. Clottey is a step above Williams and Quintana imo.. I'm pretty sure Clottey will beat Judah if the fight comes off for the vacant IBF title.. Quintana doesn't want no more of Cotto and Williams would get murdered.. Besides Mayweather, Mosley, & Margo, Clottey is the best challenge for Cotto..

Quintana wouldnt fight Cotto again.. He got scared at the mention of Cottos name when they did the post fight interview when he beat Williams. I forgot what the announcer was asking him but he was asking something about how does it feel to bounce back from that defeat to Cotto and Quintana must have thought they were asking him if he wants to fight Cotto again and Quintana had a nervous smile and said "no no no"

I would say Yes but Quintana would get pummeled again. Williams however would be fun to shut up all the talk about how Williams was going to stop Cotto. Otherwise my other pick would be Clottey but he is too much of a low profile fighter.

If he wants a big fight, he should:

1. Fight De la Hoya
2. Fight Williams-Quintana winner (he would unify and make more pressure for a Mayweather fight)
3. Fight Mosley (the first fight was too close)

Sure, good idea though a Mosley rematch would be bigger/better.

It isn't needed though. In terms of his career that is the worst possible fight. A guy he beat, who is only going to be getting older. It is needed about as much as the Oscar fight is with Mayweather.

Yeh if Williams beats Quintana then I think Cotto should go for Williams. And after he beats up Margo and Williams then maybe there will be enough hype for Mayweather to fight him

Jimmie; I would like to see him fight Mosley again but it is a pretty high-risk, low reward fight for him so I don't really see it happening

True but Mayweather ISNT going to happen unless Cotto loses anytime soon so Cottos gotta fight the next best guys to be taking seriously as the top dog at 147. Mosley was an extremly close fight and during the last few rounds it seemed clear then Mosley had taken everything Cotto had and broke Cottos spirt a bit.

Yea, I thinks so. Or if not him than Mosley or Clottey.

I don't think there is much point fighting Quintana again unless it's the only fight possible, Cotto brutalised him last time and will do the same. If Williams wins then they should fight, It would would build up Cotto's resume and increase the demand for a showdown with Mayweather.
