A fighter who's been inactive in recent years very much like Felix Trinidad. And, like Trinidad (Until recently anyway, with Tito) he isn't mentioned here very often.

What kind of legacy doe Freitas leave behind him?

How good, or even great was he at his prime weight?

Scoring almost 30 consecutive KO's in a row is nothing to scoff at,

He was great. He was exciting. Defiantly underrated. Much better then people give me credit for.

Gave Corrales a boxing lesson untill...

but he committed boxing biggest SIN,
and not once but TWICE. And for that he will be erased from the books.

Quitting?

No one's going to forget Duran for quitting in maybe the most famous boxing example of it ever.

He seemed impossible to knock out, anyway. The shots he got up from the first time times vs Corrales were unbelievable.

He was excellent at 130lbs had speed, power and had some great fights I guess he'll probably be remembered as the second greatest Brazilian boxer after Jofre.

has anyone seen the cross that knocks down barrios at the end of the round....my god!!!

yeah good fighter. i personally felt he wasnt that good he could punch, box and move, was athletic and had a decent skill set. but he was no sweet scientist as some make him out to be.

a guy who had enough grit and skills could get to him. i felt casamayor should of go the victory. the knockdown was a punch to the shoulder. and he was getting mullered when corrales started to forget about boxing and just go inside and bomb.

he could get hurt and be dropped and deterred. he just had a good rigth hand that could get him out of trouble.

but still top tier in his prime. behind jofre in brizilian rankings.

A mediocre fighter with very good power.

Technically he was horrible.

People who call him a coward because he quit should rethink all those times great fighters rose too late and claimed that they "mistimed the count".

There's really no difference between walking out of a fight and faking a missed count IMO.

I agree..
Popo would wear his heart on his sleeve, when things were going bad you can tell by his reactions in the corner & his body language. In so many words in all his defeats he had already menatlly given up before the actual stoppage of the fight. At his best he was "Pound for Pound" one of the most exciting fighter's to watch. (like Pac today)

Duran's "No Mas" is a very different type of quit than Popo's..
Roberto was plain frustrated & didn't give a fuck, he knew leonard could not hurt him at all, but was pissed off like a trying to catch a fly with a pair of chopsticks...it was not going to happen.

He was terrific until Oscar Saurez got ahold of him and turned him from popo to poopoo. Saurez gets my vote as the worst trainer in boxing for ruining more fighters styles than anyone in recent years.

I wouldn't say he was horrible...

He just never impressed me in the slightest Russell.

Other than as a puncher.

Word class fighter with a very good resume, no ATG imo, but will def get in the HOF.

Freitas - Barrios is one of my very favourite fights of all time.
