Donald Trump wants to: "become a major player in promotion of MMA".

Seems like he's dead serious about his new interest in mma...Who knows , maybe he'll have his own "reality show" based on mma...lol "you're fired!"

Anyway , here's his interview...

Hope Trump is serious about it but I still think it will flop due to UFC already establishing itself and Trump will want a quick return on his part wheras I think this needs to be a long term investment of around 10-15 years.

But who knows im just speculating and competition is always healthy for businesses and fans alike

I think people are overestimating UFC. Some of their big names are already leaving, and i'm sure more will follow once Affliction offers them more money. UFC just can't keep paying guys like Jardine 15K for a fight. I mean come on, that is insance considering the profits they are making. I think this is the beginning of the end for UFC unless they do some major turn arounds.

No one has ever got close to the UFC in PPV buys. Not even close. I'll be interested to see what the Affliction card pulls for ppv #'s. I'm betting its less than 50k. And thats with a card thats completely STACKED.



I'm thinking Trumps only interest in this is to get these events to go off at his resorts. Get his name out there for every fight.

Precisely - UFC holds a kind of monopoly over the sport. Casual MMA fans hardly know that there is such a thing as competition to the UFC.

UFC is only an organization - but some casual fans, rather than refer to the sport as "MMA" call it "UFC".

It's true that some assume when a fighter leaves/gets the boot from the UFC, this means they are not good enough. Not true.

I actually think with Donald Trumps wealth, smarts, and experience with boxing, he may be able to give Dana White a run for his money. But, he would have to learn his stuff about MMA first.

Yes, but i think all of that has been kind of recent. I mean 10 years ago people didn't care as much about the sport, so it's too early to tell. Sure, UFC is a brandname now, but who did they have to compete with? The only other big organization was Pride, and i think a lot of MMA fans know about Pride. I think that once we get another stable organization it's possible that UFC will lose its grip. And i mean an organization with good fighters, not like EliteXC or etc. But maybe i'm too optimistic about UFC's downfall. :lol:
