he had the potential to be ranked much higher than people would rank him. If he had fought margarito and cotto and won people would have ranked him alot higher

OH YEH. If he would have beaten Cotto convincingly he would have been surefire top 20 ATG with a lot of people arguing 10-15 range. Then 20-30 years from now he probably would have settled in the 5-12 range

I said 20-30 years down the road (if he were to beat Cotto convincingly). Thats not a ridiculous statement by any means. I mean the guy would have cleaned house 130-147 and retired undefeated (including picking up a belt at 154)

People would rank him 15-25 right now and that would have dropped lower over time. Its what always happens when people look back in retrospect.....

most people dont even have Ray Leonard in theyre top 10 or 15 and theres no way that Floyd ranks ahead of SRL.

Disagree there, Leonard generally falls 10-15 on most lists I have seen and why wouldn't Floyd if he beat Cotto CONVINCINGLY (keyword)? I am also basing this off of Cotto going on to accomplish more, which I think is a given. There should be no argument that he would be 15-25 on most lists if he were to beat Cotto convincingly, and over time people typically look back on fighters with more respect so I could see lots of people having him at 10 or so

I see Floyd coming out of retirement to fight Cotto if Cotto's stock goes up some more. Same counts for Margo, but I think Cotto is more likely.
I'm curious what Oscar has to say about this (It will be all staged of course since they are promoting together aren't they?), even though it's all show.

I think people are mixing up my words, since they are just jumping in and reading certain things and responding. Regardless, I have been on here for 2 freaking hours now and gotta get going. Read through all of what I wrote and actually think about it. I don't think anything I said was completely ridiculous regarding PBF, aside from maybe the FIVE to 12 comment, so ill stick more to the 10 comment from my last post. I don't think thats nuts......especially considering the fact that I have never even really been a fan of his

Definitely the best fighter of his generation. In the top 10 to of the all time greats up there with Charley Burley, the real Sugar Ray, the other Sugar Ray, Duran, Benny Leonard, Salvador Sanchez, Muhammed Ali, the great Jack Johnson, the legendary Azumah Nelson, Marvelous Marvin and the real Hitman Tommy Hearns.
I will miss him.

Anyone who doesn't rank Leonard in a top 10/15 list better have a damned good excuse. In fact, I don't think that can even be excused, actually.

Arguably top 10 to 20 of all time. Definitely P4P the best of his generation a complete fighter offensively and defensively with the best mental game.

I think top 10 is not justifiable. Top 20? I'd like to see that list.
I have him at around 40. I'll wait for the dust to settle, but I think that is basically about right.

With all due respect PBF would not have been found wanting in any era. The real McCoy. He is arguably the greatest Junior Lightweight ever. He was also unbeatable at 140 pounds. Some people don't like which is fair enough but never mistake the persona for the fighter a supreme professional who had an innate ability to do what ever was required to win. It still makes me laugh to think there were people who gave Hatton a chance against PBF. As for those on the Cotto bandwagon the fact is that this fight could have been made years ago but Bob Arum("the Bobfather") did not want to sacrifice Cotto on the altar of PBF. Margarito against Mayweather would be Hatton all over again just worse and target practice for a sharp shooter like PBF. Nothing left to prove. Margarito is only a great fighter to those who considered Gatti and Micky Ward great fighters rather than great entertainers due to their Kamikaze style.

I have him borderline top-25 and i still hope he fights Cotto at some point, but if he really stays retired, he should get some more respect for it, when you consider the amount of shit fighters get when they "stick around for too long".
