Bernard Hopkins and Winky Wright both weighed in at 170 for Saturday night's light heavyweight showdown at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas. After the weigh-in, Hopkins put his hand in Wright's face and shoved him backward. Winky responded with a push and the fighters were quickly separated....more to come.

i question how much genuine animosity there can be. haven't they been business partners, at least under 'special arrangement', for the better part of a year now?

I was thinking the same thing.
Didn't Winky say he's not gonna sell the fight, I guess Hopkins took matters into his own hands.

That's not a good sign from Bernard, I'm starting to believe in Winky more and more. I don't believe Hopkins has been this hostile before a fight ever, I'm going with Wright by a comfortable UD.

Hopkins is a legit LHW who through great training stayed at 160 for most of his career (after starting it at 175 I might add). Wright isn't a LHW though.

Didnt say that, what I said was if it were not scripted Oscar would have came out worse looking than Joppy did, this is the truth when have you ever seen Hopkins respect any smaller man in that ring seriously? all of the sudden he fights Oscar and shows Oscar more respect in the ring than he did Tito or Roy Jones.
The fight was a fix had it been an actual fight Oscar would have not fought since.

you guys are stupid if you seriously think either of these guys would throw a fight at this point in their career, bernard is trying to get the psychological edge, and winky being the more passive personality is trying to not give up the psychological edge by acting like he thinks hopkins' antics are a joke

Nobody thinks they're throwing the fight. The build up, however, is all pure kayfabe.

1 thing you dont do is put your hands on a mans face. probably one of the most disrespectful things you can do other than spit in their face. winky didnt seem to feed into it much though.
winky looks big at 170 but next to bhop he looks small. i dont see winky being able to hit bernard as cleanly as he wants and getting countered most the night. tough fight for both, but i say bhop uds him in a ugly fight.

Can't wait for this one. If Wright wins this he probally moves into my top 50 all time p4p, Hopkins maybe top 30 if he wins. A true boxing fans loves nothing more than these fights, this is what is the sweet science is all about.

i can see the size and strength advantage of hopkins making it a rough night for winky.
but i'm leaning more to winky beating B-Hop but UD simply due to punch output. against sam soliman who can be awkward winky threw over a thousand punches despite the fact he had a cold. hell, he was constantly blowing his nose and i don't imagine he'd make something like that up.
B-Hop's output is getting lower by the fight. i thought he'd beat tarver cause tarver is an old fart too, but simply fades as the rounds go on. winky will not fade and even though the extra weight might mean he wont throw as much, he'll still outwork the old man.
will be an interesting tactical fight yet with a lot of variations as they both try something different to neutralize the other.

Still torn on this one. I like Bhop to win coz he's in Roach stable. I'm leaning with Winky coz I think he will be busier & wins by SD. maybe a Draw.
If the same Bhop from the Tarver fight shows up. Bhop might win it. By UP of course.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that one, but if I remember correctly Hopkins was being disrespected by everyone including Tito's fans and Don King and I was on his side for that one. In this case, I thought Bernard showed disrespect and initiated the brawl. Winky's always a class act, I didn't see a reason for Bernard get that physical with him.

winky threw a good amount of punches vs soliman because he had to. soliman threw twice as many and if winky didnt throw that much he would have been terribly out pointed. sam wouldnt drop regardless how many times winky caught him. they both were puffy and exhausted after the fight.
