Do I have to start in the amatuers or can you go straight into the pros? I have asked a few people and have got a few different outcomes. Tried to call Mr Young but no answer, will try again tomorrow.
THanks

No worries. There's no way they let you go straight in to the pros. You have to do something like 30 dummy cards first, to see how you go. Jimmy will sort you out.

Good luck - The monthly meetings are usually the undoing of most new prospective judges...
Its my favourite way to spend four hours arguing over things that have already been decided upon...

Sounds like I have to do the amatuers for a couple of years before I can get a look into the pros, didnt think it was that difficult to get into. Oh well looks like I may have to look into another hobby. Its pretty ridiculous really. It wasnt really a very encouraging response. I thought they would want new people coming through seeing its the same old refs and judges for the last 10-15 years. Maybe they are keeping it in the boys club and dont want new blood to come thru.

Not at all. If I were a trainer I wouldn't want you anywhere near a fight involving my fighter if you'd never even judged Am's before. Learn your craft and you'll get to the pros. Dalby Shirley, Patricia Jarman, Anek Hongtongkam etc didn't just knock on Marc Ratner's door one day and say "I wanna judge in Vegas."
