Haye is certainly going to have to be very careful how he fights at HW.

The thing with Haye is he used to walk around at 16 stones anyway.
The jump from cruiser to HW is the biggest weight jump in boxing so after a couple of fights we will have a better understanding of how he is gonna fair. I personally reckon he'll take the division by storm :)
saw him on setanta at the opening of a new gym in moss side. he didn't appear to be bursting out of his clothing but i don't expect to see a dramatic change in his physique.

I think he has bulked up well. I better remove this picture before DW gets ideas.

I think he's going to get clipped at some point when he moves into world class and get KO'd. I hope I'm wrong......

I was told last week that Haye is 237lbs (and very lean!) but will cut down to around 220 for his next fight later in the year.
He has put alot of stress on his body over the last few years boiling down to an unnatural 200lbs, It we be very interesting to see if he is as fast and athletic at his natural weight.
Would Linford Christie have run as fast if he was made to take off 2 stone of lean muscle before his races?

If he bulks up too much he'll look a bit strange with that pinhead.

Would Linford Christie have run as fast if he was made to take off 2 stone of lean muscle before his races? One thing I've always wondered is why do sprinters have huge upperbodies? I can understand the need for huge legs, but wouldn't they be better off having lean upperbodies? Obviously not but why?

I think it helps them power off the blocks.

Because the pumping of the arms is a key factor in running fast.
It's about strength and being explosive, so you need your body to be built for this.

The question about sprinters.. doing weights a certain way promotes the recruitment of fast-twitch muscle fibres which means and more explosive and powerful and ultimately, fast athlete. It is the same reason why boxers do weights and have big upper bodies.

As the man in my avatar said of Haye, "You can't put muscles on your chin".The full comment was actually, 'you can't put muscles on your chin, I've looked into it and it can't be done. However, if a fighter does have issues regarding his punch resistance, you can get around it by only putting him in with feather-fisted opponents'.

I always thought Calzaghe's insistence that weights `make you slower` seemed like a old wive's tale.

Click on the little paperclip and manage attachments and upload the image.
Then in your message click the paperclip and then click on the file name.
I think it only lets you upload 1 image this way though.
