Hello people i have a quick Question about my punching power. i used to have a lot of power in my left hand, but now i've lost all power in my jab. its like a flick now and my opponents walk right through the jab when im sparring.

is there anyway i can increase my power in the jab, so when i snap it out i hit with more force. btw my hooks and right hand are bang on, and carry some dynamite. thank you in advance.

Do you step into your jab? Do you throw it from your shoulder? Where do you put most of your weight when you throw it - your front of back leg?

Also, how tall are you? If you're a taller guy, try to "punch downward" slightly when you throw it out.

Try isometrics and punching with weights. (Bruce Lee did both)

punching with weights --> Bruce Lee would shadow box with small weights in his hands. This drill consisted o f punching (12 series in a row, 100 punches per series, using a pyramid system of 1-,2-, 3-,5-, 7-, and 10-pound dumbells). He would then reverse the pyramid and go 10, 7, 5, 3, 2, 1 and zero weight.

If you were a natural power puncher you would not be asking this question. Why not just accept your limitations and work around them?

For most boxers jabs are about speed not power. Snap the jab as fast as you can. Aim it well, learn good timing, proper range and angles. Whenever the jab lands back it up with a big right hand. Once you learn all that few if any of your opponents will think about walking through your jab.
