Thaxton better fighter now.
But Gomez reached peaks that thaxton never has, nor will in his career.

Thaxton is a more consistent performer, but you never quite know what is going to turn up when Gomez steps through the ropes.

Talking of what Gomez turns up - according to the Sporting Life website he has failed to show up for a pre fight press conference for his fight with Khan.
Apparently ****** is disappointed and has accused Gomez of showing a lack of respect to the media and his opponent. Khan reported to have called Gomez an idiot and says he is scared!

:patsch
****** is disappointed with everyone these days - Setanta have it in the neck for signing David Haye and a deal with Top Rank.
So Frank would rather not see Cotto vs Margarito, or does he have a ringside ticket???
Speaking of lack of respect, strange - Khan isn't exactly the respectful type, he doesn't respect the laws of this land by getting nicked for speeding every five minutes. He only needs a drink driving conviction to become an honourary Premiership footballer.
Gomez probably is an idiot, I don't know or care (Jeff can shed some light perhaps) - all I want to see is him ensuring that Khan is KTFO, and as for being scared, you are having a laugh :rofl
Although many were disappointed with the Khan v Gomez match up when it was announced it was thought the pre fight build up would be entertaining at least so it is odd that Gomez chose not to show up for the media, etc.
Lets hope he backs up his talk when he gets in the ring with Khan then.

Very funny, team player and he's going to shock the world on saturday. Khan 16-1 on apparently... Thanks for my holiday this year bookies. :good

33-1 on if you check Skybet, with Gomez at 9-1
So have you seen Gomez in training lately??
I saw Carl Johanneson in Leeds recently totally pissed up, but he said he was going to have a cheeky fiver on Gomez - and wants a rematch with Kevin Mitchell, who he should have finished off really.

I am definately going to have a dabble on Gomez, just checked Corals and he is 8/1 with Khan at 1/33, it has got to be worth it. I have said from the moment this was announced that Gomez could be the one to defeat Amir... hope I am right

Juan Diaz is Khans perfect foil.... Gomez is about as close as your going to get domestically.... A hard hitting pressure fighter who is great at closing distance and infighting.
What talk? He hasn't said anything yet has he?
Was referring to Gomez stating that he is going to knock Khan out, do an "Alex Arthur" on him.
Apparently Gomez also predicting he will win if the fight goes the distance or will stop Khan in the final third.

I pick Thaxton, on the basis he's probably not quite as shot
In truth I'd have no interest in seeing it whatsoever, its pointless.
Its Khan who is always running his mouth, Thaxton, Murray and Gomez are recent examples. But because he is seen as the "nice"/ "good" guy he getd away with it.
WAR Gomez!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd never put a bet on Michael Gomez without knowing which fighter Michael Gomez was betting on. And preferably which round as well.

My heart says Gomez just cos' of where he has come from in terms of life adversity but my head is saying Khan will wear him down and win comfortably probably by late stoppage.
5 years ago I think Gomez could've smashed Khan.

agreed?? 100% Gomez has a chance....
He's a puncher. Khans susceptible.
He's a pressuring, infighter.... Khan can't infight effectively.
He throws punches outside of your preferal vision..... Exactly what Limmond hit Khan with.
He punches harder then Watson or Limmond.
He's trained like a champion with one of the best coaches in the UK.
There's more...... I could go on - I won't but i'm very confident it will take a career best performance from Khan to beat this Micheal Gomez.

At this point in time Thaxton is the better fighter. Thaxton is on to a winner with his next European shot and that will prove him to be the best current British lightweight fighter. No one comes close.
