Rees outworks M'Baye in the first round, with good body shots.
Rees 10-9.

Rees looks fantastic. I think he might burn himself out and get fatigued later though.

Rees 10-9 2nd round. M'Baye is standing off him, Rees is forcing the action and outworking him.

First two rounds go to Rees in my eyes, as John Rawling just said the punches might not do damage but they are eye catching and they are scoring shots. Rees outworking M'Baye.
SevenSamurai
07-21-2007, 04:11 PM
What is M'Baye doing? Fighting on the inside against a guy with no reach!!!
Rees outworks him again, although M'Baye starting to find the target with the right.
10-9 Rees.
30-27 Rees.

Rees showing some good shit here so far! Hope he doesn't punch himsef out though.
SevenSamurai
07-21-2007, 04:14 PM
Calzaghe at ringside giving good advice, for Rees to keep his hands up.
i think rees will tire and get stopped , but if he does not then he will beat mbaye, who is one of those lazy fighters who just likes to do enough to win, and he simply cannot keep up with any sort of pace at all per round.
remember mbaye was not fresh v koltenik , so mbaye better start moving through the gears.
SevenSamurai
07-21-2007, 04:15 PM
M'Baye is not motivated here. He thinks he just has to turn up to win???
Rees 10-9
Rees 40-36.

mbaye is one lazy fighter tonight.

I hope Rees has the fitness to keep this up, if he does we'll have a new champ. Also the work he's doing to the body will take it's toll on M'Baye.

mbaye is telegraphing every lead and lacks snap and speed.

what they talking about closer round.
mbaye did fuck all.
SevenSamurai

Rees is starting to tire in this round and takes a bit of a breather at one point but he still outworks M'Baye and gets the round. Rees wants this fight more, but I think he gases and gets stopped.
10-9

It's a tale of tactics. Rees doing exactly the right thing - MBaye is doing exactly the wrong thing. Rees can't win if this is fought on the outside.
what did mbaye do and land to outscore or draw level in the 5th.?
rees is not breathing heavy or letting his work get ragged which suggests his stamina is ok at the moment.
stuey

Thats it really. Rees is being allowed to win this fight by M'Bayes laziness.
the only way mbaye wins this is if rees tires.
and no way is mbaye doing anything to tire rees at all.
ress is like sparring on a heavy bag , except the bag punches back more than mbaye.
well at this point through 7 rounds anyway.
rees is getting his rests in the rounds, getting his flurries off and confidence makes your adrenaline pump and give you extra stamina.
7-0 rees.
mbaye landed absolute flush on the bell and never hurt rees at all.

Weren't the Khan camp at ringside? I don't want to take anything away from Gavin, but they could be looking at a Rees v Khan fight? World champ at 21 etc And with Amirs height and speed advantages and the fact that Rees isn't really a puncher at 140 who knows. If I was one who was into conspiracies I'd go along those lines.
Edit: Don't get me wrong I believe Rees won fair and square and there was no funny business involved.

What a load of wankers we are, we gave him no hope what so ever!
Great perforamce from a fighter who hasnt even for the best domestically at LIGHTWEIGHT, to go up a division a dominate the WBA champ is a huge performance and probably the biggest upset since what, Steve Robinson winnin the WBO featherweight title...?
Thing is nobody knows how good Rees is now, was that a one off against a avergae champ, or can he go onto defend a title that at light welter even though he is obvious a lightweight!?!
Great performance though, loved every second of it. And goes to prove that Enzo Calzaghe is the best boxing trainer in the country WITHOUT DOUBT!

Maybe. But Gavin is slower than Khan and Khan won't be as stupid as M'Baye, Khan will fight on the outside. So can Gavin get under the jab of Khan and close the range? Can he deal with Khans speed? I think Khan is overrated but I think Rees is made for him, he may well be a world champ at 21 after all, did you see the look on his dads face at ringisde a number of the rest of his team there looked smug as hell as well.

Willie was slower than Khan too and was slipping under Khan at times. Gav's shorter to find It easier to slip under Khan too. Khan cannot be speed reliant for long, without speed he would of lost to Willie.
