shadowboxing:gloves and mouthpiece?

I know that when I used to go to the guym, most fighters didnt shadowbox with their golves on. and usually on ESPN and HBO when they show training and the fighter is shadowboxing, he is usually in handwraps.
why is this, and does it give you an advantage between the ropes if you shadowbox with your gloves on

u don't need gloves and a mouthpiece to shadowbox. the reason y they probably have something on their hands is because they were also doing other drills and found it senseless to take it off just to shadowbox
