One of the most entertaining fighters ever and the term "heavy-handed" would be grossly underselling his power.

Enjoy this ([Only registered and activated users can see links]).

Also, please comment on what you think made him so damn powerful. I'll start with the following observations. He committed fully to his punches when he sensed vulnerability. This often left him wide open but his confidence in his power is obvious. Much like a Willy Mays or Joe Dimaggio swing (sorry non-yanks) he seems to have such a fluid, whip-like delivery. And just a question, how many opponents get lifted off their feet by bodyshots in this video?

You posted no video, but I'd say a good deal of his success with his power and style in general was his very underrated accuracy, which was even more impressive given his wild style.

Click on the word "this". Sorry, it was less obvious than I thought. Great vid.

Good point, too.

Great video -it's even better for those of us who despise rap music if we put it on mute.

I theorize that there are two kinds of power -thunder & lightning. The first is heavy-handed, clubbing power that sends PSI measures off the charts. Foreman. Liston. Carnera. Arguello. Marciano. The aging Hagler to some degree. That "wooooph, woooomph" kind of shot. The second is based on those fast-twitch fibers -Hearns is the best example of this kind of power. It's whip-like; and although the PSI wouldn't be expected to be as big, it's the sudden delivery that matters. These are the guys that can blow you out in 35 seconds with one shot. The "shots that you don't see" are the ones that get you.

Few fighters have both: heavy hands and fast twitch fibers --Thunder and Lightning.

Combine these with precision, leverage, fundamentals, and bad intentions and you have... Julian Jackson.

Just watched the video again and one thing stands out... JJ launches his opponents when he connects. They change momentum, direction and travel with the force of the punch to the floor. Devastating power.

For some reason I always rooted for his opponents. He was an exciting fighter and seemes like a decent person in other words someone I would normaly root for, but for some reason I'd pull for his opponent.

Arguello was a sniper though-he could thread the needle. The others you mentioned certainly punch like they are chopping down a tree. Thuds.

Another thing with Jackson was the power in both hands. Very few fighters possess nitroglycerin in BOTH hands like he did.

Yes, Arguello was a sniper, but those shots landed with thuds and he struck me as an unusually heavy-handed puncher -notwithstanding this "thin man's" -a la Hearns- build.

The only highlight video with rap under it that i ever enjoyed was when it was Roy Jones' "And still" (unstopable). Should i be ashamed of that?

The shame! The shame! I suppose you also enjoyed Roy Jones' rapping about himself on his way to the ring. It was a lamentable public demonstration of verbal masturbation.

Your penance should be self-flagellation.

Well, after i liked that song "And Still..", i got interested and looked up other songs at YouTube and ran into "Ya'll must have forgot". I sat through the entire 3 minutes of it and i think i'd prefer self-flagellation over having to go through that again.

...now that's endurance! I wouldn't last 22 seconds watching that.
