Who are some fighters that you respect and want to rank higher but flaws in their record (or other factors) prevent you from realistically doing so? Jack Dempsey is an example for me. I admire his power, durability and skill. His boxing ability was highly regarded for decades by experts of the sport. Dempsey's story of "rags to riches" is also legendary and pure Americana, adding to his appeal.

However the poor quality of his opponents, inactivity after receiving title, and having not fought the best potential contenders prevents me from rating him higher in my HW ratings.

Anyone else have issues with fighters they hold in high regard?

I would like to rank Vassily Jirov higher because of how much I respect him and his style as a fighter but losses to Mesi and his drubbing by James Toney keep me from putting him in my top 10 Cruiserweights ever and yes, I know Mesi was at heavyweight.

Greg Page, but he had too many losses, especially after 1985.

Gabriel Ruelas he was pretty awesome before his tragic fight with Jimmy Garcia.
Alejandro Gonzalez was also pretty impressive for a short period of time, He lost the title to Medina who was a very good fighter but Gonzalez had more talent than that should have never lost to him.

Ricardo Lopez. He clearly was a beautiful operator, but his poor, poor resume and refusal to move up in weight sooner stops him from making a top 80.

Agreed. He was the first guy that came to mind.

Lopez=One of my favourite fighters to watch. Perfect punching form, fast of hand and foot, dinamic power....but his resume doesn't justify a top 100 ranking.

Lloyd Honeyghan comes to mind here. After boxing beautifully against Don Curry,he seemed to forget his skills, and became over reliant on banging his men out of there.

Loads of fighters i think have a fiarly high gap in whre they would rank all-time, wiht all things considered...and what i tend to feel their capablities in their prime are.

Famechon, Winstone, Sugar Ramos, antonio Gomez, ernesto marcel, Kalambay, Joey Archer, Borrkhorsor, Chan-Hee park, Eddie Gregory, Grigorian..to name but a few.
