170 is way too much for Winky. There are certainly better opponents at 170 than Winky.
But I still think he can beat anyone (Taylor, Pavlik, Abraham, ...) at 160.

What exactly looked off about Winky at 170? It's not like he was ever fast or powerful to begin with, and the weight sure as hell didn't look like it effected either of that.

At 154 Winky was very big and physically very strong probably the strongest at that weight at 170 he is small and his physical strength advantage doesn't exist at all.

His power at 154 was decent at best, in my opinion. And he fared well at 160 without much physical strength. There's no reason to think that Hopkins wouldn't have beaten Winky at 160 as well.

Winky should not have been fighting at 170 at all. He just doesnt train as hard as he used too. A Winky/Hopkins fight at 160 pounds 5 years ago would have been completely different than the type of fight we got today. Much more action and maybe even a different result.

And no Winky is not overratted. Never has. Never will.

Winky's not overrated, but the credit Hopkins is getting for this fight is. It was a good win, but it's no different then if Mayweather beat Pacman....at 140. Taking a great fighter and beating him 2 divisions higher than he's ever fought and 3 divisions higher than his best isn't enough for some of the hype Hopkins is getting. Good win- yes. World-changing, OMG Hopkins is top 10 ATG p4p!!- no.

Dominated Shane "Im Requiem's cousin" Mosely twice. Dominated Trinidad. Dominated Quartey. Drew with Taylor (another top 10 p4p fighter). Arguably beat Vargas. Was the undisputed LMW champ.

Before I get to that, Winky Wright is an AMAZING fighter. He should definitely step back down to MW and see if he can get the title there. MW suited Winky pretty well, and I think it only makes sense for him to come back down.

Anyways, he is overrated as a boxer. People talk as if Winky Wright has better skills than every other boxer in the world and I just don't see that. Winky is AMAZING at what he does. His defense is near impenetrable and every fighter (whether they win or lose) looks very poor against him. Winky Wright is a very great boxer who does ONE THING so well that he wins all the time. Winky doesn't throw hooks or uppercuts, he has little head movement etc. etc. Winky wins despite this (as a matter of fact, if he started throwing a wider variety of punches it might make him WORSE, so I don't hold it against him) but he is not one of the best "pure boxers" of this era.
