will you consider him above Floyd at 147 lb?

Cotto will have win over 3 legitimate contenders while Floyd only 2
and he TKO Judah, while Floyd barely outpointed him.
Not mentionig possible win over Floyds nightmare - Margarito.

If Floyd takes on and beats Mosley in that time then certainly not.
He is still the lineal champ remember.

Im not sure how Floyd "barley" outpointed Judah, pretty damn clear I thought. Cotto certainly had his troubles against him.

Cotto-PBF is going to be the superfight of 2008.

Michalczewski also was lineal but most people considered Jones as best LHW.

Assume PBf will not fight before Cotto/Margarito which is set to be during late summer/early fall.

It was fairly close, but not contraversial either. It certainly wasn't anywhere near a shutout. IMO you can't be considered top dog unless you beat the top guy or he loses. Until that happens Floyd will remain number 1.

Are you serious? Barely outpointed Judah eh....I guess thats what you can call 4-8....And if your going to say that you may as well say if Zab didnt get Cottos hardest punch to the balls a couple times, he would have won..

True but there was enough arguement for DM to be considered the best. I dont think he was but he was still the lineal champ, he beat the man for it.

I think this is reverse here anyway, PBF is the lineal champ AND the more talented, more revered and more widely known fighter.

OK, so going back to an example. Jones never beat Michalczewski and
Michalchewski didn't lost until 2003 so Jones never been top dog even collecting 3 titles?
So how come Tarver become #1, then is Hopkins and soon will be Wright?

Briggs was the lineal champ...he too was hardley seen as the best HW at the time.

First 6 rounds was a good battle, the rest of the fight was pretty much a beatdown. Or as much as a beatdown as PBF can dish out in that timeframe.
Judah had a go in the Cotto fight cause he knew he could hurt Miguel, but he more or less accepted the fact he had no chance against PBF by mid way through their fight. After that he tried to survive by being awkward and fouling.

OK... according to ring magazine Roy was the champ. That is all that matters. Michalczewski was then beat by a guy who Roy made look like a nobody, but was actually a good top 10 light heavy.

Yes! Beating Marg/Williams means he'll get another title so definitely he SHOULDl be ranked higher than PBF at 147.

The guy with two titles will always be regarded better than the guy with one title irregardless of the personality involve. It's as simple as that. :yep

If Floyd is also in the division then no. For Cotto to become the new man he has to beat Mosley for the WBC title. Doesn't matter if he beats Margo. So after Margo it has to be Cotto v Mosley! Hopefully Mosley may have beaten Cintron by that point.

It would be great to see such a showdown.

Cotto-PBF is going to be the superfight of 2008. Floyd also has trouble with Judah for the first 5 rounds. Judah also scored a clean knockdown as well. Cotto also had trouble with Judah but at the end of the day both Cotto and Floyd put on a pretty good beating on Zab.:hey
