...and Bernards Hopkins told him to FUCK OFF!
eveyrone who says bernard looked so old...i dont see it. he still outboxed Winky and intimidated him with his dirty roughhousing and completely took Wright off his game. Legendary fighter. I think Joe Cal can slap the hsit out of himthough. I wonder how calzaghe will handle the dirty tactics though

It's astonishing how he is still fighting elite fighters at this stage of his career. I thought age and lack of activity would effect him this time round but once again he proved me wrong. I picked both Tarver and Wright to beat him and couldn't be happier that I was wrong and I hope he continues to defy my pessimistic predictions.

Indeed!! Every time somebody uses this phrase, I can't help but think of the old-time trainer Ray Arcel. When I was first following boxing avidly, around the early 80s, periodically U.S. television would have programs on boxing, and they would almost always trot out the then-90ish Arcel, who would invariably say something like, "You can't beat Father Time."
If Ray were still alive, he might just have to rethink that a bit, I would say! :yep

It shows what you can do when you look after your body. Hopkins is in the gym keeping in shape all year round for his entire career, and it pays off in the end when you can keep fighting until your mid-40s. I think he has another big fight in him yet.

On a serious note, Hopkins is older but he is so good at what he does he is still elite.
His defence is awesome. He is probably the only man to defuse Wrights jab and pressure.
If you notice he doesn't really throw full bloodied quality shots, they are often arm punches.
He paces himself, mainly by reducing punch output and increasing workrate.
Yesterday I think he was more ballsy then he was with Taylor. Probably because he was facing a smaller man who isn't a heavy hitter.
X keeps himself in sensational shape and where as he is past his prime he isn't shot. He isn't slurring his words, he can still sees the shots coming, he isn't having to rely on things like chin and power.
X is looking to go down as the best old man ever. He is having a real fight with Moore, Walcott, Foreman, Robinson etc for that title. This has made me think, so I am going to go talk to the classic section about it.

I wouldn't say that he told father time to fuck off. He was noticably slower in both hands and feet and had to switch up his entire style to get the win. Telling father time to fuck off would be putting on a glenn johnson type of performance.

If you read my post above yours you will see I attend to this point.
When you are 42 and beat arguably the number 2 P4P so convincingly on the cards, I would still say he told FT to fuck off.

hmmm... I don't think he won convincingly. I would have edged to a draw. Hopkins spent large segments of the fight doing nothing, constantly instigated clinches and his work was 85% ineffective.
He got some good shots off early and made a good rally at the end, but I don't think it was a clear win.
The consensus is he won close but clear.
His workrate is what neutralised jab and pressure. No one has ever done that to Winky.
