George Foreman vs Ezzard Charles,Billy Conn

Watching the Peralta fights, I could see Peralta was doing well fighting on the inside, he did it sporatically but he was effective. Peralta was 6"ft even and weighed between 175 and 195 most of his career, he was not as slick as Charles or did he hit as hard, Foreman was green but i could see Charles causing George a lot of Problems....Against Jimmy Young I can see how Conn could give George movement but Conn had better power than Young...I can see these type of fighters handling the Young Foreman and out hustling the older one. It depends on which version of Foreman we're talking about. A young green Foreman could be taken by Charles and Conn but an older more seasoned version(Frazier Iand II, Norton) destroys them both.

Foreman would fuck Charles up IMO. I don't think any slickster type could stand in the pocket without an iron chin and reasonably expect to win against 1970s Foreman.

Charles was a great, great fighter, even at HW, but he didn't have the durability to take what Foreman would be dishing out, and George would find him sooner or later.

Conn would be interesting, but young George was better at cutting off the rng than many give him credit for. Conn would be playing the hit-and-run game he played with Louis, most likely, and might enjoy a fair bit of success...but it would be downright NASTY when Foreman catches up to him.

Foreman did leave some unanswered questions about his ability to defeat small slick boxers in my opinion.

It is hard to say exactly how he would have fared against Ezzard Charles, Billy Conn, Archie Moore or Tommy Loughran.

I would say that typicaly he would catch up with them sooner or later but if he fought a few such fighters he would end up dropping a decision to one of them.

One fighter that I would steer Foreman well clear of is Jersey Joe Walcott.

Agreed, imagine foreman trying to track down walcott doing his waltz? he would have foreman set up in 3 or 4 different traps before foreman even realized.

A interesting fight for George early in his comeback could have been Ossie Oscasio.

I personally would have liked to see how that would have panned out.

yeah foreman was good at cutting of the ring and that's why ali went to the ropes. no way does conn and charles take all those foreman shots on the ropes where they would end up eventually. ali was bigger and tougher than those 2.

Charles downfall would be his aggressiveness. When you want to outbox BigGeorge you need to be defensivly minded. Charles was too aggressive for that. Conn on the other hand was exactly that. I can see him outboxing Foreman and since George does not have the stamina of Joe Louis the danger of getting cought late wouldn´t be that big. I think Conn beats him on points.

Makes sense but Charles had a good inside fight, Foreman was more of a wide swinger...I think the danger for Charles was getting past the early rds and fighting a perfect boxing fight...Conn and Charles had better stamina but they would need to box to rd 7-8 but let George fell there power with quick carefull punches

The peak George against Frazier & Norton would have walked through them. The addtional 30 lbs, plus height & reach, is too much for the smaller fighters to overcome.
