OK OK. So we all know GOMEZ THE MOVIE is out this year. You know the film that has been made all because Gomez beat a scotsman in Scotland.
However, lets not dwell on that too long, the fact a film was made because he beat a scotsman. & you cunts call me paranoid?

Right, im going off track here. Back to the subject in question, GOMEZ THE MOVIE.
Anyone got any info on it? Now we all know the Rocky Balboa part of the film will come when he beats Alex Arthur. So does anyone know if this part of GOMEZ THE MOVIE will be acted out? & if so who will be playing Alex Arthur?

This film in progress fascinates me, as it gives a great insight into the psychology of the average english boxing fan, & their attitude towards Scotland & our fighters. Im choking to see this film, make no mistake.

So if anyone has any inside info on this film, lets hear it! & lets discuss it:D

GOMEZ THE MOVIE, I still cant belive a film is being made just cos he beat a scotsman!!!

i've seen clips. They're really hamming up the anti-Scottish sentiment. Sadly it looks like a production designed to put the boot into Scotland, masquerading as a boxing/rags to riches tale.

I highly doubt the whole point of the movie is some anti-sequel to Braveheart. You guys don't half speak shite.

i think the film is much more about his life outside the ring, with boxing merley a background.

I wonder how deeply they will go into the betting scandal.

You mean the one where only one Bookie(Boylesports) suspended betting and then only one bookie(Boylesports) failed to participate into the BUI's inquiry ?

If Gomez really was going to try and cash in with a fixed fight like that he wouldn't have hammered McDonagh for round after round and he wouldn't have gone down in the manner of turning and walking away while being hit but rather would have just gone down Bruce Seldon style .

And STILL, no-one can tell me what actor if any plays the evil scotsman Alex Arthur?

Come on folks, I thought the posters in here were supposed to have their fingers on the pulse of british boxing! & as Gomez was walking about with 'Gomez the movie' t shirts on, you would at least expect someone here to be able to give us a sneak preview of whats coming!

I really hope they re-enact the fight & dont use original footage, cos I want to see what extremes they go to to make Gomez look like the hardest englander of all time who sorted out the biggest baddest scotsman of all time! Sorry to go on, but as I already said, this film fascinates me in a ghoulish sort of way.

The englanders claiming Gomez as one of their own here is almost as bad as the welsh claiming Calzaghe as one of their own!

But you all do it, & who am I to argue?;)

IMHO the biggest issue facing the producers of the film is how they handle the "Somberogate" fiasco. For the hardcore, knowledgeable boxing fan this film will stand or fall by how it handles this hot potato.

I, for one, hope the producers leave no stone unturned in the quest for the truth on this matter!:bart:bart

Personally I'm hoping they have the man that played 'Fat Bastard' in the Austin Powers movies as Ricky Hatton .

turns out the character was played by Mike Myers, who showed his ability to do an English accent with the character of Powers himself........he's perfect so .

I certainly hope the Scots get to be major villains. That cashes in both on the ever-amusing nervousness that we can generate amongst our southerly neighbours, particulary out of the (numerous) gay Englishmen. It also allows us to see yet another suppressed expression of the English sexual inferiority complex, which is perhaps most apparent in the eternal English search for an actor who can do James Bond (the epitome of British manhood) and who isn't Scottish.

So basically we'll have the plucky Gomez fighting the scary Scots and overcoming his natural genital inadequacy, using his English stiff-upper lip to overcome the wild and caber-equipped Alex Arthur. It'll be a story of an upset, a triumph, a great villain and one nation's shame at having such tincy wee cocks.

I've never heard anyone English 'claim' Gomez anyway other than the Manc's because he's grown up there and most of his fight were there.

Judging off the trailer, most of the scenes Is where Gomez looks like a drunk pikey. Hard still but maybe too brave for his own good.

This is pathetic. Why the negativity? Gomez has had an eventful life so why not make a movie? Whether it be budget or not, its about domestic fighters got a bit of limelight. Its nothing to do with having a dig at the Scots, its more to do with his trial and tribs outside of the ring. At the same time I can imagine that they will have the Arthur fight in there and so what?? Arthur got taken apart fair and square. End of story.

Arthur got taken apart fair and square. End of story.

Funny how this was classed as 'fight of the year' but as the years have passed, everyone has tried to make out Gomez gave Arthur a one sided beating.

Sometimes I wonder what I am debating with in here nowadays. the level of ignorance is astonishing, especially regarding this fight. Most people here always like to tell me how Gomez just walked into the ring & destroyed Arthur, but me being me, I analyze posts about scottish boxers & judge a poster on their knowledge when they try to "put me in my place"

Theres only a few people can debate me in here, & you arent one of them. END OF STORY NOOB.

DAMN! Anyone who tells me Arthur-Gomez was a one sided blowout either hasnt seen the fight or are just spotty faced teenagers who dont know any better.

Just thinking out loud.

Or you may be misunderstanding Betty Swollocks. We share common ground regarding Hatton, but thats where our similarities end.

We share a mutual respect as Hatton haters, but we are not the same beast.
Far from it in fact.

Put it this way, when rumours were rife that Scotty would be fighting Marquez, Betty & my good self were going to turn up at the Braehead arena. Betty was going to cheer the mexican against Scotty, & of course I was going to cheer Scotty on.

I like Swollocks a lot, but to tar us with the same brush simply cos we both are scottish stinks of ignorance. One dip into our respective archives tells the full story.
