He is ranked 5th in the WBC and I heard that might fight a eliminator for a shot at Pavlik. Style wise I hear Spade is a slugger, do guys think he could give Pavlik a good fight? or would be blown out like Gary Lockett was? And how do guys think Spada does in a fight with Marco Antonio Rubio or David Lopez two guys that might fight in the eliminator?
I love your topics, Vincent.
Not because I´d think Spada could beat Pavlik even if Pavlik would fight with his other eye closed.
But because you speculate with fighters these yanks know nothing about and can only stamp as bums...
Some carefully matched WBC-paper-ranked dude he might beat.
Against any seriously good boxer or puncher, Spada will be done quite handily.
Mahir Oral would´ve stopped him, if he´d have the punch.
Anyway, I like Spada´s style. He brings colour to the division. Just like Duddy.
I´m afraid he isn´t good enough though, to really make that colour show.

I like too keep track of B team guys like Spada,Zbik, Rubio and Lopez I get bored with only talk about the elite fighters it's done too death:tired And if Pavlik stays at 160 for a while we just might see Spada and Zbik in there with Pavlik so it's good to know who they are, I am gonna in fact get some DVD's of there fights:good Just like I did when I found out Gary Lockett rated number in WBO got a few DVD's of his fights:hat
I do think all the guys you mentioned are better than Lockett.

I would actually pick Lockett over Spada.

Well spoken,vhb!
Pavlik would massacre the Italian if their fight ever came off.
Spada doesnt play in Pavlik's league, but he is no bum and has the tools to beat some fighters in the present top15 at his weight division.I would love to watch a rematch between him and Mahir Oral.
I watched Spada live dismantling Alapslan Alguzum in the very first round of their encounter. Damn ! That fight really made my day. I cant stand Alpaslan and his arrogant attitude. Therefore it was a true pleasure for me watching the cocky Italian knocking out his arrogant foe in the very first round.Fortunetely,I had a chance to congratulate the little Italian in the arena for his impressive victory!
Anyway! Spada is a very decent fighter. He is probably totally unknown to our american fellow posters here on esb,but he for sure plays in Zertuche's and Zuniga's league.
Well, not really that sure about Zuniga, but I would probably put my money on Spada against Zertuche.

Well, don´t think Pavlik will stay at mw for very long. He will fight B-Hop next at 170 pounds after that he will fight Abraham and then, win or lose, he will step up to smw. I doubt Calzaghe will fight at smw ever again and the division is ready to be taken but there would be some good rivals for Pavlik in Kessler, Bute, Froch, Mundine and perhaps Inkin. Could become a fun division.
edit: I forgot Taylor, i think he isn´t finished yet.

Spada is good fighter but, IMO he is good at European Level not World Rankings. Altough he is at number five position in WBC, Asikainen is more dangereous than Spada, which he is not in 15 fighters.
