View Full Version : Sturm vs Griffin + undercard fights
This upcomming saturday Felix Sturm (29-2-1) will rematch Randy Griffin(24-1-1) on his home turf in Germany.
There will be some interesting undercard fights, too.
Young Russian heavy weight talent Denis Boytsov(21-0) will take experienced journeyman Fernely Feliz(23-8). The American based Domenican has already come up against stiff opposition in his pro career. He went the full route with Maskaev,Bidenko, and Dimitrenko,Levin, and lost to Ruiz.
Stern test for the young talent.
Hungarian super middle weight hope Karoly Balzsay(18-0) will square off against Jose Clavero(28-6) from Argentina who has lost big time all his big fights against Mundine,Soliman, and Briggs.
Germany ' s great middle weight hope Sebastian Zbik(22-0) will fight an unknown opponent from Paraguay, a certain Mario Lopez(24-4).
Olympian medalist Vitaly Tajbert(15-0) will face Antonio Bento(20-4) on Sturm's undercard. Due to his very entertaining style Tajbert is true fun to watch, but he takes too many unnessacary risks during a fight and will surely pay for it one day. However, his foe from Portugal doesnt seem to be the one who makes him pay in their upcomming bout.

Sturm was very lucky to get the draw in the first fight. He probably underestimated Griffin, and fought Griffins fight - mostly infight. Really, Sturm was near getting dominated for some rounds.
Still, I think that Sturm will win the rematch. Because he is smart and will not make the same mistakes again. He knows what to expect from Griffin now, and he will adapt his gameplan to that. This time he will do what he does best, which is run, jab and clinch, not take any risks and get a close points decision. Just like he did in the Castillejo rematch..

Good prediction,frost!
Sturm showed a more convincing performance against Griffin in their second encounter than he did against the American in their first one.
I am still not sold on Sturm, but I have to give him props for a well fought tactical fight. He had a good game plan, and he sticked to it.
To be honest I dont think that his next title challenger Sylvester will pose a serious threat to him. Sylvester doesnt have the style to beat Sturm IMO.
However, neither Pavlik nor Abraham should have any big trouble with him.

Patrick Dobroschi has gotta step up his game and fight some real contenders.
he's fightin guys with 22 , 24, 55 losses on thier careers
Good win for Sturm.
Solid opponent in Griffin that he beat fair and square.
I agree with Odo however, Pavlik and AA would both likely be too much...though I give Sturm about a 30% chance of nicking a points win over Abraham.

zbik and dobroschi have to fight some serious opponents and then the first defeat will come

My gut feeling tells me that Zbik will soon get a shot at a mayor title.

Sounds like Zbik & Boytsov can go on to be something, if they get the right fights and the right development.
Seen Zbik fight a couple of times. Sharp, compact pressure fighter. Like a sawn off Inkin. Inkin could've been an excellent fighter but we saw what happened with him.

I have somewhere read that Inkin's next opponent will be Karo Murat. I guess it must be a rumour.
Zbik seems to be a nice human being, but I somehow doubt that he has the necessary mental toughness to capture a world title. He also lacks a telling punch.Whats more he isnt the most entertaining fighter in the ring. To be frank I very often get bored silly watchinng him do his job in the ring.
Tajbert dosnt have much pop in his fists either, but he for sure is fun to watch with his flamboyant style and his tendancy to take unnecessary risks.
