barnes stepped on the scales a lb over weight, and they have gave him an hour to shift it.
morrison weighed 9st 13lb 11oz
eventually made it on his 3rd attempt

Surely if you have a person in charge of your weight, you would be able to eat three square meals a day in the lead up to the fight and not have to worry.
Nor should you have to dehydrate yourself something silly either.
You would think being a Manc boxer that Barnes would have at least sought advice from someone like Kerry Kayes, who seems to know the business pretty well.

I don't see why people are worried about drinking water - if the diet has been properly managed he should be able to piss out a glass drunk only an hour afterwards!
It depends what he had to do to shed the pound, half hour on a treadmill at a reasonable pace should suffice, 5k wouldn't take that much out of you.

At 40 his dried out listless and too tight at the weight. Problem is his only ever going to mill around the domestic scene and nothing more. His not good enough for any world or European honours.

What has annoyed me about this fight is how low-key the whole build up has been so far, up here in Scotland theres hardly been a story about the fight, & I tuned into Scotland Today & Reporting Scotland expecting to see a clip from the weigh-in & nothing.
Big Buncey let me down a bit too by not mentioning the fight on his boxing hour, i was looking forward to the big mans thoughts on the fight. Once again though, the fight was ignored.
Its a peach of a fight on paper too, the slick mancunian against the big hitting Motherwell man.
Anyway, back onto the actual fight, I was pissed off today when my Pal told me that Morrison is being advised not to pressure Barnes too much, Baz HAS to chase him down like a madman, cos Barnes looks like hes struggling at the weight, & he never copes well when a fighter is on top of him anyway.
baz has to jump all over this guy from the first bell, & he will win IMO. Its as simple as that! & Morrison has to sink them body shots in also, attack attack attack!
On a side note, I just heard that Hatton is going to be there to cheer on Barnes, what is it with Hatton that everytime a mnc fights a scot, his ugly mug is there cheering on the englander???:twisted:
Hes not there for the Okine fight or any other Barnes fights, but the minute a jock is in town hattons always there screaming for the english boy to win. Just like he was there for Gomez, just like he was there for Foster jnr. pisses me off that, especially as so many scots hero worship the guy for some reason.

Fingers crossed "The Biz" can get the better of Barnes, cracking fight. Barnes wont want to stand still and trade with Barry, so Baz will have to apply plenty of pressure then let the shots go. Difficult one to call, but since Barnes struggled for the weight I'm hoping Baz can do it. Go on the wee man!:good :good

Barnes will probably want to stay on the outside and box his way to a points decision. Morrison can get frustrated if things aren't going his way, and he could get ragged later on.
If Barnes gets into his rhythm then Morrison could have big problems.

that is the main reason i started writing about it .no one else was doinf enouhg for the cause imho.but im glad i am not the only one who thinks so .
