According to the news Denis Lebedev will return to the paid ranks after a 4 year long asbsence from the ring due to personal problems. He is schedueld to take on an unheralded Georgian journeyman with a fight record of 8 victories and 2 losses on the undercard of Povetkin vs Sykes.
Lebedev(13-0) is a very hard-punching boxer who seemed to be on his way to capture a world title a couple of years ago.Due to family problems he quit boxingin all of a sudden flying out of everyone's radar for more than 4 years.
Lebedev isnt the fastest fighter out there, but due to his punch, his toughness, and skills he used to pose a threat to any rival out there.
I watched him live dismantle durable American Berry Butler (24-13) knocking him out with the most brutal punch I have ever seen live in a fight arena .
I thought that Butler was damaged for good, but the tough American returned to boxing after a long break and has been quite successful since then.
Lebedev also scored a victory over today's gatekeeper at light heavy/cruiser,Sergej Karanevich.
I am not really sure whether he still has the desire to make it to the top or not,but all of a sudden light heavy is getting a little bit more interesting once again.
Lebedev is now 29 years old. He must be quite ring rusty, but I am damned curious to see how he fares in today's light heavy weight division.

Rising Russian shooting star Pirog(11-0) will also appear on the undercard of Povetkin vs Sykes. He will take on experienced vet Bronco McKart (51-8).

Pirog will now face Fransico Mora(53-13) from Argentina on Povetkin's undercard. Mora defeated his compatriot Nievas in his last outing to a ring.
Nievas went the full distance with Anthony Mundine in one of his last fights.
Mora has twice fought in Germany losing both fights to Braehmer and Sartison.

Michel Trabant from Germany will also appear on the undercard of Povetkin vs Sykes. He is scheduled to face a journeyman from Russia.

just found out when checking with boxrec. AMAZING!!

i can still remember him very well from that brutal knockout of butler.

and i remember his face.........didnt he have a corrected cleft palate??

At 29, he can still do something. maybe sauerland will sign him.

And what a brutal ko it was! Butler was lying on the ground for ages. His coach went beserk and tried to attack the ref.He was finally overpowered by security personnel and thrown out of the arena.I feared for the worst after the second knockdown.
Lebedev seemed to have finished and damaged Butler for good.By the way I was the guy who gratulated Lebedev for his victory as soon as he left the ring.
Lebedev is a bit slow and one-dimensional,but he can bang and he can take a good shot. Not really sure whether he has still anything left in his tank after so many years out of the ring.I very much hope so,but I wont be surprised to see him lose against a mediocre unheralded journeyman whom he would have massacred a few years ago.

I remember him from a few years back. Always wondered why he fell off the face of the earth, so to speak! Suffice it to say; I am pleased he is coming back to a ring and wish him the best. :good

He is a little bit slow, but has all the tools to capture a world title in his weight division.Of course there are still a few question marks-he was out of the ring for over 4 years.

By the way I didnt watch his comeback fight, but according to the fight reports he scored a very impressive first round ko victory over his Georgion foe on the undercard of Povetkin vs that joke of an American fighter Sykes.

Lebedev is scheduled to appear on Amir Khan's undercard against British journeyman Nick Okoth tomorrow in England.
I am glad that he will be able to showcase his skills on foreign soil after his long absence from the ring due to personal problems.A few years ago he truly looked like a future top fighter. The power, the punch, and the right attitude was there.
Guess that he must be a little ring rusty, and whether he can continue winning his fights the way he impressively did a few years ago or not is still a big question mark.Nevertheless, great to see him back.Light heavy really needs fresh blood.

Looks like he is making progress, best of luck to him! He should take ~ 2 years to work his way into title contention and throw off the rust, IMO.

Odo, how tall is Lebedev?

He looks like he is cruising through his comeback with ease (he's now 15-0, 10 KO), he must have continued to train at least part time while out of the ring.

He was absent from the ring due to personal problems for a long time, axe. He still seems to possess his impressive firepower, but he has wasted precious time.
Lets wait and see how he fares against good foes!

His height?? Hm! Tough question, axe! About 1,82 cm. I am a little bit taller than him.Well,it is a guess, axe!

Lebedev can certainly be outboxed, but he always has a puncher's chance against whoever in put in front of him.
A very dangerous fighter who may never win a world title, but who can give hell to any rival out there.

He seems to have listen to your advice, axe.
He is scheduled to square off against limited but durable and tough journeyman Adamovich from Belarus.
I dont intend to offence Adamovich with my following words, but whenever I watch him fight he strongly reminds me of the typical drunkard back in Belarus who stands in front of the local liquor store waiting for one of his buddy to buy the next bottle of vodka.Anyway!
He is a decent journeyman and should be able to go 3 -4 rounds with Lebedev.

Lebedev scored a 4th round tko victory over Belarussian journeyman Adamovich on a small fight card in Russia's capital Moscow yesterday wednesday the 17th.
Lebedev seems to be back on track.
