I have thius theory about watching fights to learn
I think you are better off watching amauters, clubfighters etc than you are watching ali, hearnes, leanord or jones
the big timers do stuff that us regular folks most likely wont get away with
for instance I saw a vid of trinidad and he picked his damn foot off the canvas throwing a right
jones withhishand at his side
ali pulling straight back
hearnes with his wide legged stance

and another thng is with the more basic fighters you can study both what to do and what not to

so lets do this
what journeyman or loer level fighters do yall think its good to study
augustus
ward

Depends what level of Amateur you're talking about, for one. The really top level amateurs are absurdly good. And even Emmanuel Augustus is extremely talented, that's why he can do the shit he pulls. Micky Ward was a solid journeyman fighter. Look at even some of the stuff top level guys do-Winky Wright's defense is good, Mikkel Kessler's upright, technical boxing style is also very textbook.

You shouldn't be studying Trinidad, Jones, Ali, Hearns in the first place.

If you want suggestions on what professional fighters to study, I'll list a few:

Ivan Calderon
Mike McCallum
Frankie Randall
Marco Antonio Barrera
Juan Diaz

Those 5 are a start.
