At this point in his career, fighting once a year, Having arguable lost 3 of his last 4 and clearly not really focused on boxing, I was disgusted when I heard Winky say that he wants to fight him and then in the very next sentence say "I want to fight the best"

well its about money, obviously. A win over DLH may not mean as much as it used to, but it still looks good on anyone's resume.

There isnt a bigger money fight than a Fighter A vs Oscar De La Hoya...so I just look at it as a good buisiness move.

I'd respect it more when guys just say "I'll fight whomever gets me the biggest payday".

I know why he is calling him out. It's not that part that got to me. It's the "I wanna fight the best" part of his statement.

Jermain Taylor fan?
Sort of.
At least he's honest with that, but he faced Hopkins 2x, Wright, and now is facing a top middleweight threat in Pavlik, and that's the main reason why I'm more or less a fan of Taylor.

Agreed. Besides in a DLH fight nobody gets hurt and Oscar takes a dive at some point anyways claiming he broke his fist in training.

Well the premier fighters in his era around that weight are Hoya, Trinidad, Mosley and Vargas. He has already fought the other 3.

Winky's career as a top fighter is over.
At least Hopkins is looking for real challenges. First, Tarver, the legit LHW champ, now Winky, the code nobody could decipher, next, Calzaghe, undefeated. And he does it at 42...
Hopkins is in boxing for the right reason, he's in it for glory

Floyd fought lesser paying Baldomir over Spinks and lesser paying Mitchelle over Margarito so I guese their perception of legacy also plays a role.

B0x1ng$cene.com: There was some talk a few months back, regarding Oscar De La Hoya having interest in staging a fight with you. Were there any serious discussions to make the fight or was this something Oscar was putting out there to test the fans' interest in the fight?
Winky Wright: A while back, after I beat Tito (Trinidad). Oscar came up and said that he would fight us. Somebody made a proposal from his camp. They gave us the proposal and we felt that the proposal was not good enough. We turned it down.
Oscar ducks no-one.
It's Winky who's a bitch. I think it was a career-high payday Oscar offered him. He turned down Taylor for 5 million too. I wonder how much he thinks he's worth now, now that Hopkins made him look amateurish? :yep
:rofl :rofl :rofl :rofl OWNED
well done rumble

Whats more pathetic is DLH calling out much smaller guys. Ah another DLH celebrity boxing show!
When was the last time DLHs fight lived up to the expectations? Only reason we talk about Mosely DLH fight is for its controversy. He collected his millions by taking a dive against Hopkins. Collections millions again with a garbage undercard and capped off by sparring session against Mayweather all for $50.
He realizes he can raise his stock again by picking on a much smaller Hatton.

Honestly at this point in his career I don't think that it's that pathetic. I think that he should really retire. He doesn't need anymore money, if I was him I'd walk away and tell all these guys to make money on their own name and keep mine our of their mouth.

Didn't Shanon Briggs call DLH out as well?
Just kidding, but Briggs is after $$$ too.
