Right. Theres a lot of new posters around, & as I dont delve go into all the threads like I used to(I tend to stick pick & choose the threads I read nowadays, about fighters Im interested in mainly of course) Im losing touch with whose a fan of who here nowadays!
Cos I see some monster threads with people arguing away about Hatton etc, but cos I dont recognise half the posters in debating/arguing(especially the latter) I tend just to click back out again.
I need a roll call on who your favourite fighters are, so I know where I stand when debating in here, but the thread asks that even the regulars post their two current favourite fighters, just so we all know who we are arguing with! If ye know what I mean;) Theres so many new posters kicking about, its time for a favourite fighter roll call.
Step up, & tell everyone here who they are! & no long lists, it has to be two...

Bernard Dunne (12 years a fan and counting,)
Israel Vasquez ( a great champion that is overlooked because he isn't in one of the hyped divisions)
Top two is hard. My top ten is pretty much always the same, but the people in it move around all the time. Usually dependng on whose fight I saw last.
I'll go for Rafael Marquez and Antonio Margarito. These two usually are about 5-8, but fuck it.

I like Moore a lot too. I'm dissapointed I've seem too much of him though. Hopefully he can keep on getting improving in the future. I'd love to see him fight James Kirkland, another favourite of mne, in a few years. If they both keep progressing, it might happen. I can't imagine many better fights than that so hopefully my dream comes true.
He probably needs a better manager though.

David Haye - Been following him for a long time now, roughly 2003, a long time before 90% of the people jumped on board after the Mormeck fight. Spoke to him a few times on myspace a few years back too.
Arthur Abraham - Love his style, which is unusual for me as Im normally more attracted to fluent movers and the A+ technique. Unpredictable, and I like that. I'd put £1,000 on him right now t beat Pavlik.
Others I follow and like a lot are;
Danny Jacobs(young yank fighters, going to be a real star and a nice guy to top it off).
Mikkel Kessler(
Oscar De La Hoya
Miguel Cotto
Nate Campbell(Some are offended by his persona but not me, says it like it is, great fighter)
Alex Arthur
Craig McEwan( Have high hopes, but also realistic hopes. He has good potential)
Yuriorkis Gamboa(despite the doubts, still feel he will go on to dominate, been following since the olympics)
Cristian Mijares(great little fighter, technique is spot on, has the beating of Nonito Donaire)
Juan Manuel Lopez(great potential, superb power in both fists)

As posted on my blog
1- Floyd Mayweather
2- Kelly Pavlik
3- Yurorkis Gamboa
4- David Haye
5- Paulie Malignaggi
6- John Duddy
7- Andy Lee
8- Joe Calzaghe
9- Bernard Dunne
10- Migiel Cotto
11- Paul McCloskey
12- Mikkel Kessler
13- Joan Guzman
14- Junior Witter
15- Matt Macklin
Also
Edwin Valero, Kevin Mitchell, Paul Smith, Michael Katsidis, Juan Manuel Marquez, Jamie Moore & Daniel Ponce De Leon
Gamboa is at number 3 but that was cause i watched his whole career the day i made the rankings, he'd fall short of top 5 now, maybe 6-7! Think hes a class act and could be great!
Havn't included my favorite fighter of all time McCullough because i consider him done and don't want to see him in a ring now either, left Roy Jones out also despite the fact hes still active i dont consider him the boxer he once was nor do i think he needs to be listed for some reason
As of today my top 5 are Mayweather, Duddy, Pavlik, Haye and Dunne but this can change with my mood
Wouldnt be fond of Khan, Hopkins or De La Hoya to be honest!
Haye and Katsidis, Cotto a close third.
Juan Manuel Lopez(great potential, superb power in both fists)
One thing which suprised me about Lopez the first couple of times I saw him was his accuracy. He's fast and extremely powerful, but it's rare for a fighter to have those attributes and combine them with near perfect timing. For anyone with that kind of power, accuracy is a key attribute.
I think he's going to go far. I hope he does as he's a great character and representative for boxing. I imagine he'll fight Marquez or Vazquez in a couple of years, when they're past their best, and that will propell him as the next Puerto Rican megastar. He is going to be a bigger name that Cotto, I think.

Current favourite fighters was the question....
Can't wait to see David Haye in the heavy weight scene, sticking his neck out.... who knows what will happen... love it...
Ricky Hattons last 2 match ups before retirement are tasty... no1 contender at his weight, and then the current p4p no1 in the world again after previously fighting the former p4p no1 ... fair play...
Cotto V Margo will be really great.... I like Cotto for taking on that fight... can't wait...

I noticed this before the Ponce de leone fight, I think Gamboa could do with learning a thing or two from Juan's tactics. His power in both hands is superb and like you say he rarely hits mid air.
I'll be rooting for him all the way, 100%. Multiple weight champion in the making.

herbie hide and up until his retierment robin reid i followed most of there careersI have to say, I was a big fan of Robin Reid despite a lot hating him. Superb talent, ust one of those fighters that didn't get as much done as he could have. In saying that, he still was a legit world champion and that should never be sniffed at. The Calzaghe fight was harsh, and we dont need to talk about the Ottke fight. If the Sven fight went differently at least, he would have been a unified and more.

Alright Dunk!
This is gonna sound tacky, but i will say it all the same, I'm a fan of boxing rather than boxers. I will support any british fighter against a foreigner (yes a Scotsman too ;) , even Ricky Hatton FFS). I find once you start to follow a particular sportsman, you begin to dislike their personality (Hatton is a fine example of this).
Dunky McCafferty
07-09-2008, 12:19 AM
most of us have given an answer dunky m8, hows about you chip in your two favourite as well.
Well, as its kinda known here by now I support all scottish fighters equally, I cheer them all on, celebrate when when they win, & hurt like hell when they lose. However, I always had my 'king of scots' & that was Scotty Harrison. Since he went off the rails though No scottish fighter has ever truly taken his place on my big scottish throne. Arthur was close, but when the Guzman fight fell through so did Arthurs plce at the top of my personal favourite fighter list. Its wide open now, just like it has been since Scotty 'retired'
Favourite overseas fighter? Pacquiao. People dont realise it here, but hes probably the greatest fighter any of us will ever see in our lifetime. Hes that good. One look at his resume should tell people that Pac is utterly special. Mayweather ran him close, but ducking a Cotto fight & retiring on a Ricky Hatton win left a sour taste in my mouth, as it has most others. he ducked the one challenge that could have turned him into a stick on P4P legend, one of the greatest fighters of anyones lifetime & maybe the greatest of all time & pushed even Pacs achievements into the background. lets hope Floyd does another U-Turn, comes out of retirement & beats Cotto & takes his place alongside SRR as the greatest fighters in history.
Damn Im waffling again, so straight to the point.
1. All scottish fighters equally until one does something special to finally push Scotty Harrison off his perch.
2. Manny Pacquiao. Would have been Mayweather if only he fought Cotto instead of going out on a relative low against Hatton. Theres still hope though that Floyds bluffing. isnt there?

Obviously you havent read the thread where I was saying that a certain englishman should be classed as the greatest british fighter of all time, have you?
I may be a bitter scottish cunt, but at the same time Im honest. I would never lie if I thought an english fighter was a great.
Oh & while Im here, I also think that another englander deserved no2 status as the greatest british fighter ever. So we have bitter 'ol me admitting that I think England have produced the best two fighters in Britains history.

hmm.
I asked an innocent question, but I firmly believe many posters didnt give a truthful answer here.
Many posters IMO have given a tactful answer, & I am shocked that hardly any poster on Brit ESB has admitted that Ricky Hatton is their favourite fighter.
I have been posting here for years, & Hatton is worshipped like no fighter before him on these shores. I smell a rat here, why wont Hatton fans admit they still love him more than any other fighter thats mentioned here?
This question deserves a thread of its own in fact, but I am not a spiteful man & will accept that people arent being totally truthful here.
People of ESB, just grow a pair of balls & be honest!!! Is that too much too ask?
You cant bullshit a bullshitter, & all this "Cotto & Pavlik" rubbish from many brit posters doesnt wash with me. People from these shores love their own more than the Cottos or pavliks of this world, & its time you admitted it:deal
Sorry for my rant, & as I am hardly mr popular here anyway nowadays my rant wont do me much favours. However, I speak my mind. I always have done & will never change.
This "cotto, pac & kelly" doesnt wash with me. the posters here are too bloody arrogant for a start to admit that they are owned by overseas fighters... I posted here too long to fall for that line!
