Yes, not that inspiring I know, but rewatched this fight tonight for the first time in ages (just out of curiosity as I'd only seen it a few times ever before). Can't believe how Buster ran out of puff in the 10th: I scored it 6-3 in his favour up to that point and although Bob Sheridan is a good announcer, whom I respect I can't honestly see how he reckoned it was close up till then. Buster was clearly ahead (fight stopped a tad early for my liking, actually).

Remember that the winner was obviously set to face Thomas or Tyson (the latter as it turned out) in a defence of the IBF belt. In hindsight, though depite the meek manner of that loss and who it came against (:p) I suppose with hindsight you'd have to call it as a 'blessing in disguise 'as Douglas wasn't ready for the Tyson challenge at that moment in time, both mentally and from a physical viewpoint. Such a moment which could've ended up signaling the downturn in his career, was perhaps instrumental in making it afterall from a motivational and bouncing back viewpoint.

Ps: Now in the mood for a Hearns-fest. :smoke

i didnt mind it, good fight. would of been better live of course.

buster did really well agasint a good heavywieght. but won the rounds by going into his spare gas tank...

but it was clear to me that he seemed to not want to know attitude that cost him the fight. very similar to how he was koed by holyfield. he just stared at his own blood. almost pretending to act hurt, he clearly was hurt but there is a difference to wanting to get up and to trying to get up. he clearyl didnt want to win.in this last round of the fight he didnt give anything that wanted him to continue. he was clearly out of breath and he was starting to drown...half of him was glad he was out of it and the other half was crying inside becuase he would of won and wanted to continue.

You think Bob Sheridan is a good broadcaster? I can't stand that fat moron.

I thought it was a bit closer than you did, I had Douglas 5-4 up.

Douglas's jab, better movement and Tucker's lack of head movement saw him clock up points, while on the other hand Tucker's uppercuts and rights kept him in it.

I thought the stoppage was fine because Douglas didn't do anything except stand there. He just didn't seem interested in throwing back, and you're risking a stoppage when you do that.

Douglas fights like he did in Tokyo '90, no doubt at all he beats Tucker.

I remember Tucker saying he was tight for that fight, but probably Buster may give hell to Tucker in any shape or form he's in.

I remember being impressed by Douglas and equally disappointed when he gassed, basically.
