Katsidis had a solid win. well from his face you would have thought he got flogged. but it wasnt the case he knocked down Amonsot twice during the fight.
and also it now has come out that Amonsot has a brain bleed from taking to much punishment and could have died if he was hit in the right place.
anyway a great fight.
now who would you like to see Katsidis fight next.
now Diaz is supossed to give Katsidis a shot within the 9 months from about now.
but after seeing Rocky's face he will need at least 6 months off before he even enters the gym again. so who are your picks for his next fight.
Mine are between 2 men before fighting Juan (the Baby Bull) Diaz.
an the it is between
Jonathon Thaxton (UK)
or
Nate Campbell (US)
then after fighting one of those two then i think he should fight Diaz.

i wouldnt choose nate campbell, from the little ive seen of him - he seems like a slick fighter. And would not be a good tuneup fight for kat before diaz. (i would like to see this fight though). He needs to verse a boxer with a similar style to diaz.

i truely believe a 35 year old Nate Campbell is perfect since Juan Diaz is in talks with Julio Diaz.
Katsidis vs Campbell Jan 2008.

im with you mate. :good
i doubt campbell would take it and especially not in australia but if we're dealing in hypotheticals that's my choiceYep im with you on this aswell. i saw you post it in another thread.
and all i could think was perfect fight for Katsidis.
why there are all these reasons.
*Campbell losing twice to Peden. (Rocky ask Peden to help break down Nates style etc)
*Campbells age helps the fast paced Katsidis.
*Its a decent USA name in Campbell
*Plus Juan Diaz looks set to sign a fight against Juluio Diaz
* which is good for Katsidis because i believe he needs one more decent fight before taking on the Baby Bull.
*It gives him a chance to work longer on his defense.
Michael Katsidis vs Nate Campbell in Jan 2008= PERFECT.

They were only cuts they won't take 6 months to heal. I would say about a1 month max before he could start training properly again. I would like to see him fight against Diaz. Diaz is a big name in the US right now, and win or lose Kat will put up a great show and will really make a big name for himself. To be honest one fight isn't going to make a difference if he fights the Baby Bull. Diaz is just a better fighter, however style wise these guys match up perfectly, and Diaz will give Kat plenty of chance to land. If he waits and misses his chance, it might eventually come against a guy like Casamayor who will more then likely frustrate kat and box to a wide UD, without really doing anything to enhance Katsidis reputation in the process.

Excellent point. Put him in with a solid pressure fighter and watch Katsidis bomb away at him. His management should be doing everything possible to make the most of his crowd pleasing style.

A slick southpaw with a good chin ripe for the KO??? Tell me your kidding. The only thing that could really trouble Casa is he has been fairly inactive, although not to the extent that it should effect his performance dramatically. Style wise this would be a very bad fight for kat. Casa would box and Kat would have trouble getting off. If he had a hard fight against a guy like Amonsout (spelling) what do you think Casamayor would do, who fights in a very similar style only is much more experienced and much better?

He's fighting Juan Diaz next right? this will be the ultimate test for Katsidis. Diaz is a whirlind he doesn't stop punching. The way Katsidis likes to brawl it'll be perfect for the Mexican.Amonsot was a solid in-experienced opponent hand picked to make Katsidis look good on the global boxing scene.Katsidis got cut the worse cut ive seen.Other than that he won convincingly. Diaz is a huge step up in class. The real Mckoy. It'll be a WAR.

Im not kidding.....he is 36!!! Thats pretty old for a lightweight,he only just got past a shot (IMO) Corralles (spelling) He can be beaten, yeah he is slick but he likes to trade also. Same height, i still think its a great fight for Kat.
But hey iv been wrong before, anyway at least he would take the fight.

hahaha cmon Marcus don't lose confidence just because you have made a few bum picks. Its not as fun then when I prove you wrong!!!! I know he is fairly old, but some fighters can handle it better then others. Particularly good technicians like Casamayor. Even an old Corrales is much better then anyone Katsidis has beaten. Not to mention that Corrales at 135 was a BIG puncher, and the fact that he couldn't KO Casa, says a lot about his chin.

Just watched Kats latest fight and i must tell the truth that I wasnt overly impressed by the way he gets inside. He gets hit waaay too much and doesnt move his head. Someone like Rooney would be excellent for Kat.

Exactly. Totally different fighters. Pac bombards guys with speed and combination punching usually from range, where as Kat needs to get right inside and try to out muscle them. Pac basically lives off that straight left, where as Kat is much more effective with his hooks.

Thats the correct technique for throwing a hook punch. Its much better for your wrists and hands, and you hit with all of your knuckle. The reason it looks akward is because a lot of fighters don't really use the right hook like Katsidis does. Kat uses it as a primary weapon. It can be very hard to throw in close also, but because Kat has very tight punches he can land it. A lot of guys tend to loop their right hook more to try to get it to come over the top of the other guys gloves, which is probably why Katsidis hook looks different as well.

the dudes who are saying that he should take on casamayor and raheem are dreaming. slick fighters the worst possible matches for katsidis. he has a chance against any lightweight toe-to-toe but will look amateurish against both raheem and casamayor IMO. those guys won't engage if they are not sure that they will get the upperhand.
katsidis needs 3 or 4 more fights before dreaming about casamayor

i think that the pac and katsidis comparison stops after saying that they both like moving forward. pac can fight in distance, katsidis can't. and pac being a 1 punch fighter, i think, has been proven untrue now. the straight left WAS all he knew then but he has added a lot more. katsidis, i think, will still improve. but until he does, i can't see him being compared to pac

and no offense to you but if you read my 1st post i stated that Juan Diaz and Julio Diaz are trying to make fight.
So that leaves Katsidis without a opponent. Thats why im saying that i bet you will find Diaz wont be Katsidis next fight. because of Diaz vs Diaz. so that leaves time for Rocky to take another fight.
And this goes to the people that went along with MSTR.

hahaha.... you almost had me going there for a sec. Okay here are a couple things to think about. 1st off Kat just made his mandatory of his interim title so he doesn't need to face a top contender as appointed by the WBO for some time now. Secondly Diaz had also talked about facing Katsidis after this fight, so it is still unclear as to which direction he will be going at this point in time. Thirdly, why fight a very dangerous fighter with a very akward style in Nate Campbell when you don't have to, and you are waiting for a shot at one of the big names in the division? If he does want to take a hard fight before Diaz, why not go for someone like Edner Cherry, who has a hard come forward all action style like Katsidis, which will be a much better fight both in terms of similarity to Diaz, and also in terms of enhancing Mike's reputation as a great crowd pleasing fighter.
i think that the pac and katsidis comparison stops after saying that they both like moving forward. pac can fight in distance, katsidis can't. and pac being a 1 punch fighter, i think, has been proven untrue now. the straight left WAS all he knew then but he has added a lot more. katsidis, i think, will still improve. but until he does, i can't see him being compared to pac
Your right in saying that Pac is more well rounded now. I was more tryinjg to point out the fact that they excel in different areas, although they are both very offensive minded.

He has sparred with Mosley before, and I definitely think that Golden Boy is interested. They would be silly not to be really. The only thing that may be worrying them is whether he has the talent to compete at the top level. Walter Mathysse had an all action style of boxing also, and they signed him up and then watched him get demolished in two consecutive fights.

He wouldn't have much to gain by fighting him again but I agree that he is talented but still raw at the moment. I think in a couple years this kid could go a long way.
no worries mate! whats the pros and cons of punching in this way?
I was told that the way Kat throws you land with you smaller knuckles more often then not which can be really bad for your hands and cause them to break quickly. I don't think it makes too much of a difference honestly, maybe more accurate with the thumb facing up as it you are landing with a larger surface.

I didn't know that Thaxton was a name fighter. Have you seen him in action and has he beaten anyone of note? Raheem is a very scrappy and akward fighter. A bad match up. He isn't going to go for an ultra hard fight in between fighting Diaz. He has already beaten Ganoy. Peden would be a good fight for him and one IMO he would definitely win. Cherry is maybe too much of a risk at this stage.
well i think Nate being that he is now 35.
Nate has looked good in recent outings. BIt of a risk before the Diaz fight.

Nate has looked good in recent outings. BIt of a risk before the Diaz fight.yeah it but if make the fight for say Jan 2008. Nate is closing in on 36 years of age.
and the pace Rocky fights i cant see Nate keeping it going for more than say 6 rounds. Just the pace and how many punches Michael throws i dont think Nate at that age will keep it up for an entire 12 round fight.
i think Rocky needs another fight before facing Diaz thats for sure and it works out perfect that Diaz is fighting Diaz. it gives him time to work on some things.
But we are assuming Juan wins against Julio, if he doesnt well that will be a hole different story.
oh Thaxton is by far the best UK boxer around at 135 and although Katsidis beat Earl, Thaxton would be a tougher test.

If i was Katsidis management, i would suggest a Edner Cherry or Nate Campbell.
Or maybe even Kid Diamond or Yuri Romanov.:think
Kid Diamond would be an absolute c r a c k e r!!!
